Hate to throw water on their proposed solution, but pension relief is a fairy tale as long as republicans control congress. Their thing is crushing unions not helping them.

They oppose all pension relief unless theirs is included which last time I checked they weren't in central states. They oppose anything unions are for. They would come out against pb&j if unions were for themWhat exactly is the pension relief you're talking about here that the Republicans oppose? Can you be a little more specific?

I was refering to the article in which it states that there is another avenue to fix the pension, which they are stating it could be possible to obtain pension relief from congress, or in other words a bailout. Now you tell me what the likelyhood of congress, especially a republican congress, will vote ror a union bailout? I'll put my money on pigs flying first. You still haven't answered my question. I get it that you believe Republicans are anti-union, but let me repeat my question - What exactly is the pension relief you're talking about here that the Republicans oppose? Specifics please, not generalizations.
You're welcome Hardcore Teamster.Ha ,Ha , good luck on getting the sheep to vote No !!! just look at the last yes few votes for givebacks , the sheep could'nt vote yes fast enough !!
The Dems are less our enemy than the Repubs. NAFTA was the brainchild of Ronald Reagan (R) and relayed through by both D's and R's. The only polotician I ever heard come out against it (in the US) was H. Ross Perot and we saw him get flushed down the toilet. What's done is done, and we can't undo any of it. But, let's have a quick refresher here.
Sen. Edward Kennedy [D], pushed for Deregulation of the Trucking Industry. His staff did all the leg work on the Bill, because Kennedy, Biden and Dodd were always drunk and chasing Female Staffers in the Congressional Lounge. It was passed in both Houses and brought to President Carter [D] to sign into law. Yeah, The Democrats are Friends of Labor while they are campaigning, afterwards, they never heard of Us.
I won't take up anymore space or time telling you about NAFTA, another "Big D" Triumph.

I don't care if it was Lincoln that first thought of it. The reality is that the D's controlled Congress and rammed it through. I watched the vote on tv that night and dropped sick afterward because I was to distraught to drive, I had made myself sick over it.The Dems are less our enemy than the Repubs. I'm on board. So...let's quit blaming just Kennedy, Carter and Clinton...I don't care if it was Lincoln that first thought of it. Bonnier and Gephardt came out against it on tv afterwards. I applaud them for doing so, they looked as sick as I was. Both sides of the aisle have blood on theirs hands. None of them are Our Friends. We are in this alone, let's stop beating each other up and start pulling in the same direction.
Well keep voting yes , on the pension cuts too then , cause you seem to think that these yes votes are working well for us , also then we should cut your S.S. monthly check too then , so just keep right on voting yes , and keep giving away everything our teamster Brothers fought for back in the 1960's and 1970,s !!!!You're welcome Hardcore Teamster.
All the whinnying about the dems and reps gets us nowhere.stand up and stand together for what is right for once in your life. Teamsters back in the day stood strong and proud, we owe it to them and ourselves to do the exact same thing TODAY. BE STRONG!!!!!!!!! You are correct KKWhat everyone one needs to remember in voting on this, is the vote does not make any difference; CSPF is going to cut the pension benefits with, or without a yes vote.
The Miller-Kline Amendment requires that participants, active and retired in the fund, will be given a chance to vote yes or no on the proposed cuts….BUT, IF THE FUND ALREADY IN CRITICAL STATUS, THE TRUSTEES OF THAT FUND CAN OVERRIDE THE VOTE IF WE VOTE NO.
CSPF is going to make the cuts. What we ALL need to do is vote NO and let a major majority show that in our vote count. Legal channels are being worked on as we speak, but how the hell will you think it will look if we are split down the middle on a yes or no vote, let alone, a scared majority voting yes?
After all the yes and no votes on MOUs in the past few years, you would think Teamsters would have learned by now how the outcome was later?
As for those new Brothers & Sisters who just got hired, there will not be much of a pension for you at CSPF period because in that Miller –Kline Bill it states that AFTER Pension cuts have been implemented, the companies can withdraw from The Funds TEN (10) YEARS AFTER THE CUTS HAVE BEEN MADE, with very little liabilities.
So, come 2026 and probably even before that, you will probably be in a Teamsters 401k plan that companies will be matching some each week.
Don’t buy into the scare tactics of the IBT, CSPF and your companies…..just ask the YRCW Teamsters how that worked out in the last MOU vote.
We either stand together and be strong as one, or run and hide for the rest of your life…..Teamsters don’t cut and run.
The current retirees did not back in their days, why should you?
You have a job because they retired, not to forget the strikes they went through to get what we all have now!
Now they should be given what was promised!.....KK
