Just thought I'd let all my fellow ABFers know that my time at ABF has come to an end. I bought my own truck and I'll be going out on my own. I'm leasing on with a company that pays 90% of the load.
Since I'm so loved here, I know I'll be missed by you guys. :438:

Good luck brother Stoney! How long at ABF, and what terminal?

Good luck Stoney. I honestly do hope that you make out well.

Stoney put a little back for repairs on your truck from time to time. It's not without a down side. I think the good will outweigh the bad. It really is about finding a balance. GOOD LUCK !!!!

Good Luck Stoney. I was an O/O for about 9 years. It can be done if you run it like a business and not like a trucking company. A Big Step, and all joshing aside, I hope you do well.

As was said put some back for the equipment. I know many who tried & failed at being an O/O. Pay your truck before you pay yourself.

Yes there is its called wrenching on the truck on the weekend.

The "Weekend" is when he runs out of hours & has to park the truck. And yes if he is going to make a profit he must do all of the maintenance he can. A friend owned his own truck(s) for over forty years. He started with a dump truck when he was in high school. He learned early on that chrome doesn't make money & that he was not in the truck racing business.

Thank you everybody. This is something I've been working towards for years. I realized that the union and I didn't mix to well, but it took time for me to put something together that I felt comfortable with. No hard feelings and past heated discussions and rants by me. In the end we all want the something in life, just different ideas on how to get it.
I just got back off my final trip with ABF, and next week I start my new journey. In my 10 years at ABF, I've bought 2 homes and adopted three children. None could have happened without the Teamsters and ABF. But as I approach my 40's (37 now), I feel its time to chase a dream I've been dreaming about for so long. If your curious, I bought a 2010 Freightliner Cascadia, it's got the Detroit DD15 455HP with an Eaton 10 speed Ultrashift. She ain't fancy, but I feel she's dependable. Good starter truck.
I wish you guys the best with ABF.
