how does dip pay work?

Well I can explain it at our opco. Each stop pays a certain amount of money. There are 10 tier's each pays a set amount. The stops are paid out for how fast you work them. They are supposed to be evaluated every 2 months. (Lol) then you get paid for pre/post trip and drive time. Say if you set off 75 cases in 45 minutes this would be a type 7 tier. It would pay .24 a case. For the next 2 months you set those same 75 cases off at the same account and your time average is 30 minutes you will go to a tier 6 which is .17 cent a case.
 
Well it is can of what does all those numbers add up to hourly. I make $29 an hr. We are non-union and have no starting pay or top pay. (I am not starting a war union or non just stating what my opco is).
 
Ok I was told if I don't make dip I would still make my hourly pay and overtime would pay the same...am I missing something?

Take that back, it works for your boss whose bonus depends on you putting off more cases in less time so he can pile more and more on your truck and save big bucks for the company by reducing headcount. It also eliminates any incentive to load the trucks properly, if you wanna make the money you'll get it out somehow. Waaaaay back before DIP and ABC we were hourly only...and the trucks here were all floor loaded with next to no digging unless the guy royally screwed up. Didn't want to pay the OT. Then came ABC and surprise! We're now pallet loading like they do now.
I'm all for productivity and still put off a decent # of cases but can't ignore how much our injury rate here has jumped and how many people have just plain burned themselves out running.

This is the best explanation of how Sysco pays you. Make them look good and kill your self. Lazlo hit the nail on the head.

That doesn't make sense. Are you sure that's not flipped around. If you do the same amount of cases faster the price per case should increase, not decrease because then what is the incentive. In that case I would do 75 cases in 60 minutes and make..31 cent a case. More hours and more money per case

Yes I am 100% sure this is why dip pay sucks. ABC pay was a whole lot better.
