Yellow | Charlotte OTR?

Something sounds a little fishy here...troll?????

James Hines is the one that called me. He is the terminal manager in Charlotte.

I've never worked a union job nor worked for a freight company, so I don't know much about any of it. That's why I'm here trying to gain as much info before I speak to Mr Hines again tomorrow. It's called due diligence.

So unless you have something useful to contribute then why not move on instead of being a jackass.

You're welcome. I'm in Hsbg. Pa. I can tell you that our new hires are running 500-600+ miles per dispatch, and right on rest. You can run to Hsbg. and then run our district, we are 45+ drivers short handed. 2 and 3 beds are the norm from what the 653 [charlotte] extra board tell me. Take the job, you can always work until you find other options if it's not working for you. There are more benefits to working on a Union job than not.
Good luck, hope to see you in Hsbg.

Thanks for your time, it's greatly appreciated.

So based on what your saying I should get enough work on the extra board because of the need in certain areas, good to know!

I guess I'll just talk to Mr Hines tomorrow and get a feel for income potential when first starting out.

What happened at Conway? If you don't mind me asking.

I don't want to step on anyone's toes but may I suggest an alternative that may help a fellow driver. Check out Saia. What you call OTR is the Linehaul division at Saia. We have several terminals in the area which may help with the commute problem. Starting mileage and hourly rate is much higher and getting to full pay used to be 18 months but I believe it is much shorter now. Saia does pay a match on their 401-k. Check out the Saia section of the LTL forums.

what every he tells you get it in writing . hes a lying :shhit::shhit:

Bunch of sensitive limp wristers here on the yrc board. They get paranoid when anyone speaks of their life's work, aka the 15% reduction in pay. They prefer to think of themselves here on the yrc board as educated, rather than underpaid, junk driving morons.
4 posts so far. And each one re-enforces my opinion that you will have nothing of importance to add to the dialogue on TB.
How did we EVER get by without your "homophobic", vulgar, and immature responses.
I'll say welcome now. I don't think you will be here long, at least not using your current screen name. :rulz:

Stop holding back. Let us know how you really feel!

Because they have gone after everything else sofar. Pay, pension, vacation, breaks, work rules all were targeted, guarantee insurance is next on their to-do list
I'd like to agree with you, but market forces are not going to allow them any more cuts. The rest of the ltl market are getting big raises. Fedex in my neck of the woods is getting about $1.50 and Saia is getting a $ 2 bump. Matter of fact I believe it's going to be very difficult for Yrc to stick to the mou till '19 without raising wages more so they can attract new hires. I've heard yrc already asked the Ibt if they could increase the starting wages. It's probably not true though because they said Hoffa said no.

They will absolutely stick to the MOU until it expires. They could care less about the other ltls and what they pay. They cant afford ::shit:: right now. They arent going to put more money into their drivers.

As long as the YRCF O/R hovers at or near 100, you're correct there is no money. The fact that lenders continue to keep the bilge pumps running on the Titanic is because assets can be sold. Wages and fringe benefits cannot.

Of course I am, that is supposed to be one of the benefits of working for a union, why the hell wouldn't I expect a partial pension after 10 years and retirement age? I spoke to the union rep in Charlotte and he said there would be a partial pension.

So is it $25 a year? So if you put in 30 years at YRC your pension is $750 a month??? That would suck. I'm guessing your main retirement investment would be the 401k?

You are vested at 5 years and would get a pension at 65....Anything under 20 years of service will be paid out at 65....20 plus years you can pull at 62....at your age you would get 12 years at a 1% accrual rate which has been reduced by 75%....less than $800 a month MINUS the 30% reduction from CSPF...which would be around $560-$600 per month 12 years from now.....Why bother?....I will send you a PM for the "rest of the story!"....KK

With you living almost 100 miles away. That would deter me right now. Then the pay for new hires at 70% for three years and no vacations for 3years.Then on top of that you wouldn't have any protection form Purchase Transportation Services.Meaning the company can leave you at home and run CRST and others around you.I would walk away and apply elsewhere.Im not blowing smoke up your stove pipe.

Well they will no doubt want to stick to the mou but it will be difficult for them due to market forces. They will not be able to replace people leaving and making anything that resembles decent service will become impossible. $22/hr 4 yrs from now will be a disgrace with most carriers around $25 right now. We'll see.

They wont care. They think the world of themselves and everyone will flock to become part of the yrcw team. And they will lower their standards below that of Swift

Until we the members get this mess straightened out (thank you Johnson and Smith). There won't be any changes. At least at YRC there won't be any favorable changes. What was forced down our throats is deplorable. We all have been disgracefully been let down.
