I'm sorry, but I have no deep love for FedEx, but they pay me a decent wage for essentially doing a job nearly anyone else can do. Where exactly is it written that we should receive the same compensation as our competitors.
Just seems pretty silly to bitch on these boards about pay equality amongst fellow ltl carriers.
Man, where do we start?
Let's quote the 1st line in this thread (it should be self explanatory)
"1st off, if you work in a location with wages that are competitive with other carriers, this thread is not for you. Nothing to see here, unless you just want to look on for the entertainment value."
Next. Not sure exactly what you do, or where you do it, but the job most of us do can not be done by "
nearly anyone". There are skills and licensing requirements that eliminate some. There are medical and physical requirements that eliminate many more. There are background checks and driving records that eliminate still more. Then there are drug testing and job histories that eliminate a bunch more. What you are left with, Lube, is not nearly enough people available who are qualified to do the job we do. And
even fewer who can and will do it well.
As far as being written somewhere... There are unwritten rules that govern a capitalist system. There are market conditions that WILL prevail, given time. There is a certain level of quality that our company expects. Given THAT expectation, the workforce has a certain expectation to receive compensation commensurate with the quality of service provided.
There are lesser companies out there with lower expectations, lower qualifications, and (as expected) lower compensation. You'd be hard pressed to find a company out there (in our field) with higher expectations, and higher qualifications, but they are out there with higher compensation packages. You see, for
SOME of us, there is a
balance that is missing.
The purpose of THIS THREAD is to show that balance is missing WITHIN the company. Some are where they need to be. Some are close. Some have fallen to an non competitive level.
Under capitalism, the market will eventually correct itself. What I'm attempting to do is "encourage" the Company to correct itself sooner rather than later, by showing the flaws in their GPD (pay scale) analysis. Again, we try to encourage, before taking one of only two other actions available, in this market.
Lastly, you may have noticed, most discussions are no longer taking place on public forums. That doesn't mean they are not taking place. And they are CERTAINLY not silly, IMHO.
