Would like to know why trailers are not being scaled out at Service Centers that have scales ?
Some Service Centers do not have scales and we have to pull them to a place to scale either at a Truck Stop or a Service Center that does. When the Dock Workers load the trailers they know how much weight they are putting in a certain area and the total weight prior to closing out trailer. Heard that any trailer over 18,000lbs must be scaled.
Trailers coming from others Service Centers not scaled and going as relays to other Service Centers maybe Dead Lined due to being overweight. Very much a loss of time and shipments being moved in a timely manner. Even hear of Drivers saying, "they made it past the scale house or we have no scale to cross when enroute so why scale".
Look at the Manifest top right side, it shows a spot to write in Weights, Service Center, Driver, Tractor Number, and also who OK'd.
Let's work together instead of passing the problem.
