So a lot of Estes's competitors are giving their drivers and prospective new drivers pay raises.

I know we just got a pay raise in January, but just curious if we'll get another one for 2016. Saia for example is going to be starting at .54 and 10.79 for hooks, and I know OD is giving annual raises.

Anyone know if Estes keeps up with industry trends or do they feel we're ok for a few years?

Also, anyone know what the time frames are to get top pay?

I think they understand that if they want to keep the drivers they have they have to stay in the ballpark with the rest of the companies, but I guess we will have to wait and see. I Think it's still three years to top out.

This isnt anything new. OD gives their drivers raises usually starting in September. Estes usually gives a raise just good enough to keep us within a penny of them. Ours is always effective Jan 1.

Ive gotten a decent raise the last 2 January's and no huge increase in insurance..I think were very competitive vs most other LTL,S.What im tired of is giving my time away, sitting way past my cut time but I knew it could be like that when I started 3 years ago.

The insurance is better here than some places.I know that from experience. So far no health assessments and no surcharges except for the spouse surcharge if they work and have insurance available to them. I do feel that one should be compensated for their time waiting, on hold with linehaul for 20 minutes + etc.

Except for driver over ten years. They're vested and costs them money.

And quit sending their profits here.. LMAO, that's funny..

So what is top pay at estes in NC.Thinking about coming back to ltl just trying to decide between here and saia.
Go to saia. I make good money here the xtra board is not bad, but knowing what I know now I think I would have worked for a different LTL. I have time in here and I make good money at this point I should get a run here in about the time it would take somewhere else. The category system is a joke. They flip runs back and fourth between hub and line haul anytime they want for any reason they want.

I also hear that saia is growing pretty quickly. Both have their ups and downs. I believe that saia drivers don't get paid for their first and last hook of the day. The pin pay at Estes is better. Basically these ltl's are the same just different colored trucks. Again Estes is at a disadvantage due to the category system and inconsistency with rules and interpretation. Anyone have any questions message me.

Some of the competitors will match experienced LTL drivers pay and vacation right off the bat and give you insurance day one. I know saia will give you vacation when you start and top you out in six months I believe they are soon going to be at 60cpm.

Our hourly guys get $24.85 in the south. Pay is higher up north. Dunno how much. Think they painted themselves in a corner with this category stuff. It works out better for new linehaul. Most (if not all) of the complainers are the ones that been here a long time and made bad decisions

I think some of them wants them big money turns, without putting in time on the road to get it.I guess everyone,s situation is a little different, though.

All I can say is I love it here. They cut a run at my barn and I went back to the extraboard, just til the end of the year. I ran 3900 miles last week - legally. Got back out on my 34 and got 2300 miles so far after Wednesday night's dispatch. I'm still 1100 miles from home and am in no hurry to get back there as long as the miles are like this.

I've made no bad decisions stayed in my class day one but I'm having a lot of tough breaks when it comes to getting anywhere when it comes to my seniority.

im putting in the time.... I've spent more nights in bunkrooms than some of these guys have on the road period. they got their runs because they were hired hub after I was hired linehaul and runs that don't work the dock were added....

Good for you man I'm glad it's working out for you the extra board is good I'm not going to complain about it at all it has its ups and downs but I like it it's been good to me and my family. I just want a future here I don't want to have runs out of my reach that shouldn't be. If it doesn't take freight from origin and work dock then come back it should be a linehaul run (I think most can agree).
