I should check in on this forum more often.
Thanks for your post about Mr.Cochrane,The Best.
I do wonder how he is doing from time to time.

I met him a long time ago when he came for a visit at my Rochester,NY terminal.
I don't recall the exact date, however I remember it was around 1999 when the Teamsters had just started their nastiness.
Striking against Overnite, anyway he took us all out to dinner & we had a nice chat with him.
He has always been a first class gent in my book.

When Mr. Cochrane sold Overnite to Union Pacific for 1.2 Billion it was a record sale in the trucking industry. Then what was so funny, about a year after the sale, Union Pacific made the confession that they had been "taken", they paid 3 times more than the company was worth. Mr. Cochrane did not want to sell Overnite, although I do not understand how it happens but it was a "forced sell". The sale was made in 1986 and Union Pacific "shoved" Mr. Cochrane in an office across town where he actually had no voice or had nothing to do. After 5 years, he went across the street in Richmond where Overnite's terminal was at and he started Highway Express. A few years ago, he sold Highway Express to Celadon.
