What do you guys haul mostly, and where? How are the conditions there? Treated fairly? Long hours? Home every night?

No, I quit when they purchased Vitran. Just read through some of the other threads and the truth will be revealed. I went with SAIA ... Go anywhere but there unless you are just using them as a stepping stone. Don't waste your time. Try FedEx ... Conway ... Anyone but them. I would shovel ::shit:: before I worked for them.

The healthcare was truly a joke. Called Cherokee and owned by the owner of CT ... Talk about a conflict of interest ... A claim just waiting to be denied. No one has heard of them in Dallas. Run like hell from this company unless you are a rookie trying to gain some experience. And then get out ASAP.
 
i worked for vitran when ct bought them just before they closed the doors, ct is the worst driving job i ever had. no ot til after 55 hrs, you have to break your trailer when you get back, mon am meetings filled with threat and intimidation, hand held scanners do everything (include screwing over your time on the job), insurance nobody takes and meds are mailed (ins comp owned by ct owner). unless you're at a dead end or your family needs fed DONT APPLY!!! we had close to 60 drivers when vitran was bought out by ct and within less than 2 mths there was about 12 left.

DO NOT DO IT! Everything you read on here is true. Numbers don't lie. Search Central Transport online and look at what pops-up. Mad consumers or people who feel like they've been scammed. The things you'll find, will tell you what you need to know. Nothing positive. Everything negative. CT is a TOTAL JOKE! They have a lot of good drivers, but the upper management are 'clueless clowns' who don't give 2 cents about you. Everyone is treated like an idiot and looked down on. Absolutely NO RESPECT! Horrible or no benefits. NO PAY INCREASES. No overtime pay. EVERY time you have to fuel your tractor, your card is 'denied' and you must call road-service and sit on-hold for 20+ minutes. No such thing as seniority. Your dispatcher is thousands of miles away, and has NEVER driven p&d or even been to your home state. Bad and unsafe equipment. No direct deposit. No guaranteed (days off) vacation. No or denied bereavement pay. EVERYTHING from upper management has a "shady" tone to it. Everyday before you leave, you MUST sign and image a paper that basically says; "you're a worthless piece of $hi* and just cost the company a lot of money." I could go on and on for days.... If you want to know what they haul? EVERYTHING reputable LTL's won't or don't haul. They haul JUNK! Lots and lots of 'returns' (because they're usually already destroyed), HUGE moving boxes of about 3K pounds, they want you to move with a pallet-jack. MASSIVE crates of stones and/or rocks that a mule could hardly move. JUST do yourself a favor and keep clear of Central Transport. I worked there for years and just "walked away." One of the GREATEST things I've ever done! Kudos to you for doing some 'homework' and investigating. It won't be long (thanks to the www) that EVERYONE will know how bad of a company CT really is. Word is spreading fast, through drivers and unfortunate customers. I will say there was one thing that I did like about working at Central Transport, and that was smoking marijuana with my coworker. What a TOTAL DISASTER! Good luck.
 
Haha I work for Dayton freight. And every Friday central comes in and picks up all our damaged returns from the week lol that's how bad it is. They haul other LTLs damages for them lol.
 
Central hauls for pennies, it's probably cheaper for central to haul it back to the customer than our selfs lol. And no hassle of transporting damage freight. I just found it funny central picks up our damages lol

I rarely think of Vitran (Central Transport) anymore. Every time I do my bowels get in an uproar. I just flushed a couple of Central Transports and I feel so much better. When ever I get constipated I just think of Central. No laxative needed.
