Disclaimer- This post is for informational purposes only. Intended to reach like minded individuals. Its is not intended to intimidate or offend others. This is America home of the free. Okay,FYI. Once again the enrollment forms to partner with the United Way through payroll deduction were passed out at our terminal. I declined. Reason- The United Way chapter in our area is partnered with and funds local Planned Parenthood facilities. Yes I know that you can designate where your $$ go. I personally feel a statement needs to be made here. Below is a link to an article that will link you to a list of United Way chapters that DO fund Planned Parenthood. Not all chapters do (I hope it works. If not google it). Again, we all have the free will to be informed and make our own personal decisions. Please be respectful to others no matter what side of the fence they are on re: sensitive issues.

You exercised your "right", you declined. In your opinion, Planned Parenthood should not receive any support from United Way and you stood up for your belief and I commend you for doing so. But on the basis of your decline, I disagree. I believe that Planned Parenthood serves the women of this nation and it provides programs to promote the health of women. You probably heard some right-wing Republican spout off about something that he or she doesn't know anything about and you formed your opinion.

Now I do not give a cent to United Way, not because of who receives support, but because very little financial support ever reaches the people. Most of the money is ate up in the United Way's executives salaries and administration costs.

Many other organizations that help women, offering more services, other than planned parenthood. But you're absolutely right about money not reaching its desired destination.
 
I don't give anything to any non profit.
I just can't give my hard earned money away When only a few cents out of every dollar actually goes to the cause, a majority goes to paying the fund administrators salaries and bonuses..
Id rather cut a check each year to my local VFW or something.
