I saw a sysco mn truck pulling a plain white 48' Hyundai trailer today is this something new? It had no marking for leasing and had 2 curbside doors and I find it hard to believe they would need extra trailers when they have extra ones sitting there any given day.

Sysco eastern Maryland been pulling alot of them all summer long

Sysco Cleveland has a couple white trailers too. GFS had some plain white trailers to that eventually ended up having the new logo and graphics put on them. Wonder if that's what these trailers are for with Sysco?
Only thing about Sysco is they have a lot of stainless steel trailers, that's kind of there thing having fancy stainless steel trailers.

The new 48's in KC are plain white Hyundai trailers. My guess like Mike said is that they didn't decal them right off the bat since they bought them while the merger was still up in the air.
Or they just got cheap and decided to save the $$$

I saw a Sysco Cleveland 28' today stainless steel trailer with the new logo's on them. Sysco Cleveland pretty much has all new tractors Freightliner Cascadia Automatics, I guess that's Sysco's big thing there switching over or pretty much are already switched over to Automatics.

Here at GFS were still using standard shift trucks are new trucks are all 10 speeds. I drove a 2015 Volvo today with the Eaton Fuller 10 speed in it. I don't know, I'm guessing the autos are more expensive so they buy the standard shift because they are cheaper.

They buy standard shift because AUTOMATICS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

I honestly believe all of our new equipment is plain white because the company is saving a TON of money on vinyl graphics. Not the story we got, but that's what I think.

I drove a ten speed a couple of weeks ago, and I was in heaven.

Our Cascadias with Detroit transmissions suck worse than sucking. I never thought I'd hate driving a brand new truck that much. The Volvos are tolerable.

Word is there are a few automatics at GFS somewhere floating around, because guys get injured and can't shift, but they can drive an automatic so the company bought a few for that reason, I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what I have heard. I have no doubt there are a few automatics at GFS floating around somewhere in limited compacity for one reason or another, but I've never seen one. Next month it will be 6 months since I last drove an auto and it will be already half a year at GFS.

Drove a sterling with an Mercedes engine and 6 speed allison and had no complaints that thing got up and went. The freightliner with the auto shift sucked. It's bad when old people in electric wheel chairs could beat you down the block

I live in mn. Did you see a sysco MN or sysco Western MN? I worked for apperts foodservice which got bought out by sysco and It turned to Sysco western mn. They are currently taking off the apperts logo off the trailers which might be the reason why you seen a blank trailer

Are you insane? Our auto shifts are far superior on snow pack than a stick, especially going up hills, I always pick an auto when it snows out, I was scared of them at first, then I learned how to drive them in winter weather and I won't drive a stick for nothing, if I ever buy my own truck it will be an automatic, without a doubt!

Yes I am insane, LOL. And I still hate autos.

These were hyundai trailers first time I've ever seen those and looked pretty new. Did have a thermo king though so maybe it will end up at apperts.

I talk to some of the Sysco Cleveland guys out on the road and Sysco Cleveland is pretty much 97% automatic now I guess over the past 4-5 years they just started buying Freightliner Casscadia's that were automatics and started phasing the old stick shift trucks out a few or a couple at a time. One of them said Sysco Cleveland only had a hand full of old stick shift trucks left, not to many left and the company was pretty much committed to run automatics, and the few stick shift trucks that were left were all slatted to be put on the chopping block sooner then later.

Where I work it's different, all our trucks are 10 speeds and to me a 10 speed is a 10 speed really doesn't matter, so generally I take the worst most junkies trucks the company has, I do that for a couple of reasons, one the newest trucks are for transit and senior guys and 2 older run through the mill corn-binders that the company hates and doesn't care about are good, because there already beat up and junked up and say a rock or something stupid flys out of the back of a dump truck on the highway and nicks the paint or something on a 10 year old corn-binder with half a million miles on it nobody is going to think twice about it, but on a 2 month old Volvo with 15,000 miles on it that's a big deal. There all 10 speeds anyhow so to me it's a moot point I gladly take the ugly old stuff and orphan trucks that the company doesn't think all that highly of and let everyone fight and grovel over the new stuff.

FedEx had some "auto shifts" I hated those, then when I went to Sysco they had a couple of Freightliners with the auto shifts but most of the ones in our shuttle site were either Volvos or Macks with Allison automatics. I loved the Allison for that kind of work, I took one of the Freightliners out bobtail one day to help a driver who was behind, taking off from a traffic light he could easily outrun me with a loaded trailer. I personally like my 18 speed for heavy haul work but one of the local construction companies got there oldest driver an Allison automatic in his new Pete and he loves it.

Our trailer fleet is the same all 28' Great Danes with dual temp Thermo King Spectrum II refer units, some trailers are newer then others sure, but there pretty much all exactly the same. I know Sysco has the cool trailers where the air can be dumped out of them and they lower them selves. Sysco Cleveland is a lot of 38' trailers, that's not to say the occasional 28' doesn't pop up because they sure do, but and I don't know if they have just one or more then one, but Sysco Cleveland has this I don't know maybe 20' straight truck Freightliner M2 that I see everywhere. I'm inclined to think it's just the one, but I see that truck everywhere I see it down town I see it on the highway all over the place, it get's around there going to run it's wheels off ha-ha! I don't know if it's used for over flow or to pick up loads of stuff or if it's used for hot shots or to run routes.

I know Sysco Cleveland did have and I think that got rid of them, but they did have some 10 wheelers running around, but I haven't seen one for a long time. I know one of our drivers at GFS used to work for Sysco said they used to run a two straight trucks and a 35' down town.

Now on Monday when I am down town I see like 3 Sysco 38' all right on top of each other. I was talking to a Sysco driver at one of my stops and he said Yeah there's like 3 of us down here and you do see them pass each other up at stops. I do there's a Sysco truck on every corner down town, but Sysco is busy down there and has a lot of stops. GFS in Cleveland is small potatoes compaired to Sysco, but at the same time GFS was considered just some institutional food supplier you know hospitals, schools and old folks homes. Currently GFS wants to get into more restaurants which is why they dropped GFS and became Gordon Food Service and it's also why they redesigned the livery on the trucks and trailers. There's a big difference in terms of livery from the GFS trailers of yesterday and the GFS trailers of today. Personally I like the old logo better, but they want it to be a relic of the past. Now they are starting to ship our loads in newer trailers from the warehouse. Although there has been no talk zero of rebranding equipment I think will be like US Foods 10 years from now you'll still see old logo stuff on the road. Kind of like how US Foods 10 years after the merger was still pulling around trailers that said Alliant on them ha-ha!

Man. US Foods in KC runs a hodgepodge of ghetto equipment from all the companies they've bought over the years. Tons of plain white trailers that have had the decals removed but you can still read the outline of "Alliant" or "Lady Baltimore" (local outfit they bought maybe 13yrs back) on the sides.
Saw a guy last week with US cab pulling a trailer with "Glover Foods" stickers still on the side.

Same thing here in Cleveland all the plain white Sysco trailers are marked same as you guys, they just showed up logoed a week ago to. There not chrome either, is Sysco getting away from the Chrome?

Although you know what here in Cleveland there's a lot of old Sysco equipment scattered throughout the city and I've noticed that Sysco has bough white trailers before in the past.
