I have heard that the Indianapolis area is adding a second yard in Brownsburg, IN a suburb of Indy. It is to take some pressure off of the very busy Indy yard. September is a goal that I have heard as a potential opening.
 
would it not make better sense to have it NE side of town with the first on the SW side and Atlanta is just insane with the distance and traffic they had to drive through with just one terminal.putting one in the NW completes the circle and it would make four not three. NGA took the ATL NE freight
 
The new one in Marietta or Kennesaw is supposed to take pressure off ATW which is over on the west side in Douglasville. NGA covers down partway to the perimeter and ATL doesn't seem to have problems covering the rest.
 
I'll ask around as I am in this region. I was told previously that we were looking at Terre Haute and Lafayette, but recently heard that those were shot down.
 
i know there was a terre haute building for sale and it is no longer posted so maybe. about IND, just thought it would be stupid to put a second terminal on the same side of the city as the first
 
On the expansion topic... I've heard rumors for a year or better of COH expanding 100-200 doors, to also take some weight off Indy. Heard this again today from an unreliable source. Has it been heard from anywhere more reliable?
 
No more news on COH, but I did confirm the new Brownburg service center has a target open date of September 18th and that the ATM in IND will be the service center manager. The terminal code should be BBI as I'm being told.
 
I was at IND last week and there was a sheet at the L/H dispatchers window for people to sign up if they were interested in transferring to (I think it said) Brownsburg.
 
Yes, and the yard is a mess right now. They've got one whole end shut down and closed off and a big chunk around the shop also. Everything is a little extra crowded, not that DAL had too much room to spare to start with

BBI is on the website in the terminal lookup
