I have a trade show to do soon and I needed a TV. I could rent one off of them for something like $600 or go buy my own to show a video. Today's smart TV's let you slide a flash drive into a USB slot and they'll play the video right off of that in a loop. So...BJ's has a nice 32" Samsung on sale and I bring it home. It felt light in the box and I think it's all of about 3 lbs out of the box. One other feature that took me by surprise is that 120V does not go all the way to the TV, there is a transformer like my Dell laptop as and a little round plug that plugs into the TV. When did they start that?

have no idea. is it an LCD, LED or Plasma set, maybe that makes a difference?

Not sure on that part but we bought our daughter a 32 inch TV for her room. We didn't know it was Internet ready. Didn't even know there was such thing. She now uses her TV for her computer screen plus watches all kind of stuff off the internet....on her tv.

I'm trying to figure out how to make my laptop work on the TV's without hooking up the HDMI cord but I'm not having any luck. Might be the age and equipment with the computer.

Windows 7 used to have a program for that but discontinued it. Run down to Walmart and get you a Chromecast...provided you have WiFi and around 3-6 maps Internet speed. Then you can cast your laptop screen to the new flat screen.

i cannot swear to it, but check wally-world for an adapter HDMI cable, that has a USB on one end, the HDMI on the other.

if not, do a google search of HDMI cables/with USB ends.

I have the HDMI's but was hoping to be wireless on them.
I bought one of them smart TV's last year at wally world, but the wife & I are still dummies when it comes to hooking up our DVD.
So we just watch what the smart channels offer.
The learning curve for us elders is not as good as it is with the younger crowd. Something makes me think that with the right equipment that even the DVD player goes wireless except for the power cord.

Get a Firestick from Amazon.... It can be hacked and get movies that are in theatres still... Free... I don't know how to do it but I know people that have them and done it. Get a lot of free stuff.
Me... I would never do that.
But the smart tvs are easy. Just have to have WiFi and man you can get a lot of stuff.
I have a 65 inch Samsung plasma. Best pic on the market.
Panasonic has a great pic too.
If you but the cheapo tvs the pics are ok but a little more $ the pic is alot better. I had a 800$ smart TV and a 2100$ smart TV in my house side by side and there is a huge difference. Most don't think about it and the cheaper TV is OK for them but I want the clearest pic I can afford.

If your laptop and tv are connecting to wifi through the same router, you should be able to cast your laptop screen to the tv without any extra hardware. I just don't know how to at this point. I have the same Samsung tv so I'll mess with it and get back to you.

My son knows how to do it. He was hooking up a firestick on a laptop over the WiFi.
I can get social media over it on the big screen but it's only as good as the media. Or what it was posted with. I am no genius with it but I can get around on it. But I won't pay for anything I always use the free stuff.
Plenty of stuff to pay for but it's too expensive. I can rent a movie from Redbox for less than two bucks whereas they want 6-7 bucks. They should lower their prices. More people would buy em to watch.
Great TV though. I am going to 70 inch plasma next time. Plasma has the best pic hands down.

We have a 51 inch Samsung plasma tv we've had for about five years and I agree completely. The picture is still unbelievable. I don't know if it's quite as sharp as the Samsung LED but it's great. I have a 28 inch JVC LED tv in my truck that also has a very good picture.

Sony doesn't make plasma anymore but I had one for 8 years. Still have it out in the shop. Picture is still as nice as when I got it. It was a 42 inch. I just wanted a bigger screen. And I do like the big screen. It's great for movies and live sports especially.

I thought that plasmas were no longer made...too expensive, used too much electricity.
And I get a kick out of the screen sizes today. When I was a kid we grew up on like a 17" black and white w/UHF converter mounted up top, 25" was king sized TV, now a 32" is nothing.

They still make em.
LED ' S are cheaper.
Pic is OK.
Plasma just has a better pic... At any angle however extreme.
Yep.. Cost more to run. But how much does it really add? I don't know.
I know what you mean.
I used to have a 1959 Philco color TV... Took ten minutes to warm up and come on... Hahaha.... It was a console but I don't remember the screen size... 25"? Luxury TV then. But that was in the early 70's.
I remember my parent getting our first color TV and we watched Disney's Wonderful World of Color. And Bonanza.....! My dad was a Bonanza freak.
He made good money. Worked for Chrysler for 30. 100 bucks a week back in the 60's was a good union job.

Wonderful World of Color.
Disney had a long program on every Sunday night (1 or 2 hours). It was regular viewing in our household. There was something on almost every night that we watched as a family, there wasn't anything else to do after dark back then...TV and board games.

I have a 70" smart tv in the living room, 50" smart tv in the bedroom. Not only are they internet ready, you can link your smart phone up with it and change channels as well as turn the tv power on/off from your phone. I love messing with the wife when she doesn't know I'm home. I'll put it on a NASCAR race and scare the crap out of her with the volume turned up all the way... Lol

You are evil. I pretend I'm asleep in my twice as wide chair. Turn up the TV when the wide goes out of the room, put it on mute and wait for her return. Oh yeah. I forgot to mention I like those gory bloody movies with those blood curddling screams.
