UPS Freight revenue dropped 8.6% due to lower fuel surcharges and reduced LTL tonnage during the quarter. Changes in fuel surcharges contributed to about 600 basis point reduction in the revenue growth rate. Soft market demand combined with selective pricing initiatives also contributed to the decline.

UPS Releases 3Q15 Results
 
Rumor has it that UPGF will be laying off some 1,500 employees. Road runs are being cut. We've heard "big" changes coming after the first of the year. Hopefully theses changes will lead to an increase in business.
 
So far at hrs they eliminated 3 city bids, and our assistant tm said they are laying off 30 local cartridge employees in the near future.


They will cut runs but not lay off road drivers because if there is a guy laid off they can't use the contractors

Big changes? The only thing I see is them changing is deck chairs on the titanic. Too many chiefs and not enough indians. And sadly the straw boss's they are hiring do not understand the freight business. A shoe salesmen doesn't make a good account mgr. nor does a bookstore mgr. make a good inbound supervisor. The worst driver we have at our barn can run this dump better than any yahoo we have running it.

You are right but the big bucks have been missing in freight for a long, long time. I can't understand why UPS went into the freight business to start with.
 
Never pay attention to what is said by why this or that happened, just the raw numbers. 8.6% drop in revenue is because the company has a smaller customer base. UPS is the only game in town with package, besides a few players. The shippers have many choices in the freight industry if UPS fails them.

We have 7 people on 2 shifts in our small terminal not counting sales people running the show I think we're going to see a show down. Too bad the clerks didn't vote in the pony's. Thay have no right's.

At hrs they did vote them in, I thought it was a national vote?
 
Some of our tonnage is down cause Ups took over our accounts and told our customers to take the boxes off the pallets and ship with them. This has backfired cause all the boxes was showing up on different days instead of together and Ups lost those accts for us because of this. We are getting those accts back at beginning of year that still want to ship with freight.
