XPO | Fear and loathing.

So we got guys complaining that change isn't coming fast enough, those will be the same guys complaining about the changes once they come. I think the new management is learning the operation first before they start making any changes, doesn't that make the most sense?

Yes. And there will be small changes along the way that add up to a big change before the fundamental changes happen. Which will make everything go much smoother. The worst thing he could do is leave things the way they are. This company can be better and it should be better.

What is it with con-way/xpo's lack of communication with their employees?

Why aren't they saying anything to us? Why hasn't our president even addressed us?

Why hasn't he even announced the new uniforms to us officially?

How about telling us about all those trucks we were suppose to get? What about those handhelds?

When does rebranding start? Where?

Where's all that XPO freight volume at?

When are we going to do job selection? Is it going to remain the same? Are they going to actually use names this time instead of employee number?
i agree with all points ask our tm and he knows nothing all we know is what we post and you all know how that works

We have that as well, TM gives a little speech about the buyout and that's pretty much it. I like the fact they are taking their time to learn the buisness. I have taken the Schultz from ,Hogan's Heroes, point of view when it comes to the current situation at XPO. " I know nothing, I see nothing"

I've only been here a short while, but it seems like a lot of people are acting like the sky is falling. I keep seeing negative comment after negative comment. People saying wages, benefits, and jobs will be slashed. XPO has 30,000 customers. The majority said they wanted LTL options. If only 10,000 of the customers use XPO's LTL division, we'll be busier than ever. If that happens, I see no reason why any compensation would be cut. In fact, I see raises. They have 80,000 employees. We could get better and less expensive benefits. I'm saddened by the way people seem to enjoy bringing others down.
When vitran bought out pjax it increased the total number of employees, but insurance coverage went down and rates went up. this is big business, there's drivers out there that can replace you and that's the way they see it. Period. Bad outlook but reality never the less.

I've talked to guys in the city. Many of them driving for other carriers consider us a step up. Would love to have our jobs. The race to the bottom is real. It's all about who can do it cheapest.

I have to ask, what carriers?

Easier to eliminate the ones that don't. So.... UPS, OD, FedEx. You don't ever see anyone come to Con-way/XPO from those companies.
Let those three start hiring in my area , there will be a mass exodus! Most don't want to "wait and see". After new bid time is over, many will burn every PTO hour they have left for use while at job interviews.April will be a new start for many! I would hate to jump, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
On another note, maybe Jacobs will bury my terminal in freight with the new tools he has at XPO's disposal.

I think you could add ABF, Holland, New Penn, Dayton, Estes, Saia, heck maybe even R&L and that was before you were bought out now you could probably add Swift and JB Hunt. I had to add that last part just to get some blood boiling!

I realize this doesn't apply to the XPO/Con-way Freight drivers in the South, but...

I'd have to say that I always considered Con-way as being in the top tier along with the union companies and the other non-union companies that pay overtime after 8 or 40 (FedEx Freight and Dayton Freight, for example). I see that as a basic fairness issue, so I respect a company more if they respect their hourly drivers in that way (especially if they are non-union and don't have to according to Federal law). I'd like to see the playing field leveled nationally so that all local hourly drivers get paid true OT. Not after 45, or 55, or 60. That would make for a more competitive marketplace.

If XPO does something to alter the current OT policy, the rest of us are in trouble. It would certainly accelerate the race to the bottom for everyone else.

Hardly. UPS, OD and FedEx. The rest of us ain't the best of us.

That's right on the money. IF, I say IF, there are new or re-programed hand helds will be the first to tell. They let you do your thing within reason in the city fine. They go ape shate after 15 min arrive...........bring on the micro......and all that goes with it .

Agreed. This has the potential to go very wrong. Which will make other carriers happy. Drivers will be coming their way.

I agree completely. If you were a business owner who just bought a huge company....i would go outta my way to SHOW you how good it's gonna be. Not keep you in t he dark as I think many of us feel.
