Drivers primarily drive, linehaul has more than 2 windows to run in, linehaul drivers drive farther, not as many mangers on the dock ,gives yearly raises, linehaul is linehaul ,not day or night linehaulI know people will say the lean stuff, but I'm sure OD has something similar. How about it OD boys, do ya?
What makes OD have such great operating revenue?
They dont have to pay overtime !Paying the drivers very little for break down waiting and layover must help the bottom line a little?
Conway always was extremely top heavy . They would spend a Dollar to save a Dime so to speak. A good example is the Sterling's when they first started buying them. They came standard with a chrome grill and Conway would pay extra to have the white grill installed on them.
They would have looked alike, all of them would have had a chrome grill without the extra expense. It's a no brainerThis has two sides though. The good part of things like that means someone was particular and wanted the same look company wide. The bad part is the expense of this.
I actually wish Con-way/XPO was more particular with things but not just trucks. I wish they were like that with everything including how we handle customers freight. We'd be the top company if that were the case.
However, it's not that type of world anymore. It's whoever can do the best job the cheapest. I'm afraid that isn't going to be us company drivers before too long. It'll be those mega pay nothing carriers that already infiltrate our barns every day.
do you know those numbers for the other major carriers to compare?Transit time of 99% and claims at .36%. They don't haul the high claims garbage freight that other carriers seem to love. These numbers give them bargaining power on pricing that most don't have.
Were not that great that's a lot of B/S,You need to get out of that mindset, in 10 years I have had 3 different hats, what have we got to brag about, yes we have (Lean) and other nonsense that O.D. don't have and their management is concerned about something other than themselves unlike ours, you see its not any one thing its a lot of other things!I know people will say the lean stuff, but I'm sure OD has something similar. How about it OD boys, do ya?

I just finished reading all of the responses on this thread concerning this question and I agree w/ just about all of them. Let me pose this additional reason as to why OD's OR is out of sight...they advertise. Yeah, I went to two different web sites, The Wall Street Journal & JOC.com looking for articles on trucking. Guess what?... on both sites OD had pop-up ads promoting their global reach since they hooked up w/ a partner freight forwarder company. I Hope that Mr. Jacobs and Mr. brooks realize what their competition is doing and attempt to keep pace w/ OD in this arena by doing their own advertising through every venue possible: i.e.TV commercials, print ads, internet ads, etc. OD's phenomenalI know people will say the lean stuff, but I'm sure OD has something similar. Conway is always advertising on Red Eye Radio! That must reach all the all night truck drivers!I just finished reading all of the responses on this thread concerning this question and I agree w/ just about all of them. GROWTH and OR are a runaway juggernaut that is in the fast lane and will not lift but only run over or through any other LTL that gets in it's way. So I hope that XPO does something in advertising to at least retain our current market share before another piece of it is swallowed up by this insatiable OD machine.....real SOOOON!!!
