XPO | Feedback from St. Louis SCM Conference

I heard the existing scorecard is totally being scrapped and changing to an expense based one.

Well...it's a start in the right,(or at least a different),direction !!! And our TM's won't be worried about straining to reach good Con-way type numbers anymore. Going forward they'll only have to worry about achieving good XPO type numbers. We'll have to see how this plays out w/ all the multiple CNW metrics gone and the new XPO single metric of cost cutting arriving. Stay tuned...this ought to be interesting!!!

THE ONLY WAY I SEE THIS HAPPENING IS FOS/SCM'S NEED TO STOP IT WITH THE NUMBERS GAME, LOAD TRAILERS THE WAY THEY SHOULD BE(NOT CRAMMING IT FULL JUST TO HAVE TRL UTILIZATION&CUBE WHICH IS WHERE WERE GETTING DAMAGE FROM)DRIVERS USED TO GET ON OTHER DRIVERS ON CAUSING DAMAGE BACK WHEN WE HAD I.C.P IN THE AVERAGE OF $2-3K ,NOT MUCH INCENTIVE NOW! YOU NEED 90K TO GET A $900.00 BONUS,AND LASTLY WE NEED TO STOP REWARDING BAD BEHAIVIOR, I.E THE MILKMEN

Milkmen indeed!!! We still got city dsr's at my barn starting in the twilight zone and getting back after I get back from my 0700-0730 start time peddle run. God bless these guys that want to work 12-14 hours a day cause I sure as heck don't want any part of it. Having said that...surely Mr. Brooks will put a squash on this OT abuse ASAP and all other cost abuses while he's at it...and well he should if we're going to be more profitable...and that's what XPO wants... going forward.

It's a graphic and disturbing amount of waste.

Like has been mentioned in another thread. It will require a complete overhaul of culture. The way it was, will not jive with the way it's going to be.

Our terminal manager came back from the meeting last Friday and was asked about how the meeting went. He had nothing to say. Wouldn't tell us what was discussed. He sad he signed a confidentially statement saying he wouldn't talk about anything that was discussed. He's been asked several times since then, and sticks to his story. But he's also a habitual liar, so we dont know if he's telling the truth.

My SCM was also tight lipped. He said we "XPO" are going to make alot of money. He would not say how, he would not say anymore than that.

Well MW, I'd be willing to bet my Conway pension, what little there is of it, that your TM could have told you a little something of what was sad in St. Louis. Why?...cause when my TM got back, we asked him about what went down w/ the conference, and he willingly told us a few things ,but then he said that he couldn't tell us certain other things. My point... not everything that was said at the meeting was confidential. Sounds to me that your guy just doesn't want to share ...or is afraid Corporate would find out if he slipped and said something that would get him in hot water,(covering his hide).

He's telling the truth. However, there is a meeting with all employees to be held shortly. We had ours. Nothing major happening yet.

We were told by our SCM to expect the VPP program to be revamped to incentivize all employees, mgmnt/labor to operate in ways that make the company more money. Some SC's or regions may get a bigger payout than others based on performance. He said Jacobs wanted to move us away from the non-profitable SC's getting the same size chunk of the pie as those that make money. We were also told that after January the rebranding process will be ramped into high gear at SC's. I also found out the new handhelds are being piloted at various locations and that we can expect to start getting them in January as well. No word yet about rolling stock. Monkeywrench and Radman, it sounds like you guys have douchebag SCM's. There is no reason for them not to spread the word.

I like my TM and I have found him to be a good and honest man. He just did not have anything to say about the meeting.

Ours was very vague. He was excited about moving forward. Other than that. We are business as usual until told otherwise.
