My meet man showed up the other day in a lease truck that was one of the brand new prostars. I got up in it and it ain't bad from just a look see in the cab. I put in alot of time at my old job in a 8600 series and this prostar looks much better inside.
Wait till you go up a hill in that POS.
You'll be chugging along like the little train that couldn't. :biglaugh:

I pulled Triples out here in the West the other day, and the INT. did just fine....There not as comfy as the Volvo but they are not a bad truck...Lots of rattles though...

You in a Prostar?
What kind of gear ratio are you guys running out West?
Cummins underneath the hood?

:biglaugh:Yea Me...It was a loaner...LOl...I am not sure about the Ratio Mike...They runn 65 at 15 0r 1600 just like the Volvos....They have 400 Cummins in them..

They are probably going International because FedEx got in a tiff with Volvo. Just like they did several years ago when FXF started driving Kenworths.

How many terminals do we have system wide??
I don't know about now. But when FX bought out Watkins and made FXN, Watkins had 144 system wide at the time.

Why are they moving away from the Volvos when FXF just took delivery of a boat load of them? Wouldn't they get a volume discount buying in bulk?
I wondered the same thing myself. Maybe Volvo could'nt meet the demand quick enough?
I asked our shop mgr more or less the same thing "wht are we messing around w/kw's instead of just getting volvos"? I was told it's a matter of having all your eggs in one basket. in the event of a disription in the supply of parts or new trucks, due to a strike or whatever, we would have established relationships w/other mfgs. and therefore other options. btw I am at fxf

I'd say the cornbinders are cheaper to buy new, but not cheaper in the long run. From what I've seen the newer binders need more shop time than the Volvo when the miles start getting up there.

The talk out of the shop in Atlanta (ata) is that fxn is getting 900 new trks. In ata the old trks with the strips are going to the wild board and the bid drivers get to new ones. I'm just glad the new ones have no fog lights cause some of this new hot shot drvs we have hired lately don't know how to turn the fog lights off. Haven't figured out why you need them on the yard.
