I know that area well,been going thru there for over 20 years,just went thru there yesterday morning about 0430. At that time it was foggy, fog was about 20ft above the pavement. That area has been known to go to ZERO vis in seconds. Its a lowland marsh/prairie surrounded by lakes. US441 runs about 1.5 miles to the east. Just south of Gainesville, 4 wheelers and big trucks blast down thru there, the State Patrol and County Sherriffs usally sit in the middle around the 378mm to catch speeders. If there was a fire and smoke it must have been from a cigarette thrown from a vehicle.
