Trucker reports 22% loss in quarter
Arkansas Best Corp. said Monday that its double-digit decrease in third-quarter net income reflected efforts to continue expanding into the nextday / same-day delivery market.
The Fort Smith-based holding company’s weak performance came as it reported hiring 2, 000 new employees and continued expanding the number of facilities in its separate “regional performance model” system to 81 facilities. Arkansas Best operates 288 facilities in its less-than-truckload / truckload system across the United States.
