FedEx Freight | Any news on if there will be an October pay increase?

Speculating:

Most likely, all parties agreed to allow the status quo to continue. Annual raise and insurance adjust are status quo items. No one would want to deny the raise to the represented group. Legal issues, as well as principled issues would certainly arise.. Once that is agreed, the insurance kind of falls into to the same category. Status quo.

Agreeing to allow the status quo to continue, rather than challenging it, is not the same as negotiating something new that would be binding.. Nothing is binding until agreed to by all. Company, Union AND the members.

As far as the status of the vacation benefit (Assuming it was withheld) I've not seen which side chose to withhold that. I would argue that it is part of the annual compensation increase, in terms of value. Therefore it should be considered part of the raise, thus the status quo.

Not being on the committee, we are left to speculate without all of the key details.
I'll agree with most of what you've said with exception to the vacation benefit and allowing status quo to continue.
First, you yourself even said in another thread that it was industry leading, meaning we're the only company to offer this benefit to city drivers. That in itself makes it a "new item", therefor it can't be considered "status quo" or part of the raise....it's an "added" benefit, thus it must be negotiated for the two centers currently engaged in negotiations, to which both sides agreed.

Second, after the company asked and union agreed to give the raise, the company asked for and the union agreed NOT to discuss future wages for 12 more months. That, by definition, is negotiating, not just continuing the status quo.

You lie more that Clinton to congress

Well here we go got decent raise and now were taking a concession and giving some of that raise right back because our health insurance is going up.

Let's break down the raise vs the increased premiums....

At the current pay scale for your center, the .75 per hour raise equates to an extra $130 per month gross for a 40 hour week with no OT factored in for simple math. The premiums for the most expensive insurance plan is to increase on average about $14 dollars per month.
This means the increased premiums for the most expensive insurance plan are only about 11% of your raise which leaves you with about $116 per month, or about 89% of your original raise still in your pocket.

After deducting the increased premiums for the most expensive insurance plan from your original raise, the final raise amount for your center would be about .67 per hour...still not to shabby for a raise IMO!!

Note: The raise amount may vary depending on the pay scale used for one's center and which type of insurance plan one has chosen.

How much? My manager told us it was not changing.
The coverage isn't changing but the premiums are going up slightly depending on which plan you have.

Here's a pic @chitownpeddler posted in another thread taken from FB...

Therein lies your, and other's, problem...we've only had three meetings between the union and the company in CLT. The first two were primarily for setting the parameters and basic guidelines of future meetings in which no drivers attended. The third meeting this past Sat, which was also the first meeting where the drivers were allowed to observe, was more of the same except for when the wage increase, the 12 month moratorium on wage discussions, and the increase to our premiums were negotiated. This is the FIRST and ONLY issue that's been negotiated so far!!

Now, can you, JB&G, SAC, or any of the others please explain why in the world you would expect the drivers to vote on this ONE ISSUE and why a contract would be voted on???
Show me where I said thru would vote on only one issue at a time, I keep telling you that the raise is coming, not because it was negotiated but because the NLRB has already set the precedent about planned raises, and yes it was a planned raise we have gotten one every year, your the one that said it was approved by the union, that's why I made the snarky comment about the contract. Before a contract can be ratified all issues that are on the table have to be decided. I also said that even tho all of the anti union say there will never be a contract, if they are talking and negotiating there is always a chance. I do believe we need representation, but I also have mixed feelings about the teamsters, but I don't know who else might be out there to represent us. Maybe the pilots union would take us on as they have already reached a contract with Fred, but I highly doubt it would happen.

We already have the worst insurance on the industry IMO why should we have to pay more for it.

Here ya go...

That's a good point red if the raise was negotiated then that must mean that a contract offer is on the table and the members have to vote on it.
Again, since it's the only issue that's been negotiated so far, the only way for a contract to be present for the members to vote on would be if they were voting for a contract on every single issue, period.

I keep telling you that the raise is coming, not because it was negotiated but because the NLRB has already set the precedent about planned raises, and yes it was a planned raise we have gotten one every year, your the one that said it was approved by the union, that's why I made the snarky comment about the contract. And I too said last Friday, BEFORE Sat's negotiations, that "...I do see the two centers that have already started negotiations still getting the raise...", as seen below...
Before, during, and after the votes were counted really means nothing in this case, it's only once negotiations start.

With that being said, I do see the two centers that have already started negotiations still getting the raise, for the union to deny us the raise would be political ******* IMO....and even the teamsters aren't that stupid!!
...but for different reasons. The precedent that you keep mentioning may or may not have affected us, that all depends on what evidence was found by the NLRB had the company NOT negotiated that raise with the union. News Flash: the union can approve anything during negotiations without approval from the members in order to achieve the best possible offer, that's what they were elected to do!! The members voice their approval/disapproval once an offer from the company has been made, otherwise the members would have to vote on every single issue, which doesn't happen!!
Trust me, the ONLY way there will ever be a contract is if the members agree to take less just to get a contract...and we won't let that happen!!

Drivers need to factor in the prescription drug costs for themselves and family members that they have insured that Optum/My Catamaran do not any longer cover as of July 2016. As well as the unpredictable formulary that does and can change at anytime.

Any prescription not covered that you decide or have no choice but to pay for out of pocket will not count toward your Maximum prescription out of pocket cost. This means a few grand for some families

Aside from the Cigna Premiums for a family of 4, the funds given in the HRA, $1500 put and used in the FSA, we still are paying over $400 a month for family prescriptions that my Kids need that Optum just will not give authorazation for. This are meds that are common and have always been covered. For 10+ years!

The insurance sucks and will Bankrupt many drivers with families and kids with serious medical problems and those who need prescriptions that are no longer covered.

A freakin fast acting asthma inhaler for my kid went from a $5 copay to $40 with Optum. Another med went from a $5 copay to Optum removing it from the formulary and it is now $400.00 + if I buy it out of pocket for my kid.

So, specialists were removed from negotiated rates until deductables are met 2 yrs go. Never told that was going to happen. Last year we get Optum/mycatamaran who changes and refuses to fill meds at will.

I get that if a driver does not like it that they can look elsewhere.

But for Christs sake... lets just admit.. the Insurance sux ballzz and the raise does not touch the up coming rise of the insurance rates and prescription costs.

Red seemed to have left out the part where the Dental, prescription, vision is also going up. But how about what is actually in our coverage not being told, like what they are not covering anymore or prescription they won't cover. Oh and by the way the offer could have been refused because those negotiating get the raise anyway according to labor law "past practice". It's only frozen if it's a bad offer the union was not going to stop the men from getting a raise so the healthcare should not have even been tied to the raise. To be continued

FedEx is "Self Insured" they pay Anthem to negotiate the bills on their behalf. Anthem gets a percentage that they save the company in medical cost. Therefore we do not pay premiums to these large insurance companies but to FedEx so why is the company raising our healthcare when we are self insured?

Dental, vision, etc...what are they now, like a dollar and something a month?? Geez, another dollar, if that, ain't gonna kill ya is it??
I can't speak for what they won't cover or what prescriptions they won't cover, we personally haven't had any problems so far, everything has been covered, even prescriptions...sorry. Again, the previous precedent you guys mention only counts if the NLRB determines our situation fits within the criteria, otherwise under NLRA rules, the company CAN differentiate between represented and non-represented employees during collective bargaining negotiations...that precedent has also been set. The union could've refused to give us the raise, it's well within their rights, but to do so would've been political ******* and even they aren't that stupid!! They could've also refused the increase in insurance premiums but they didn't...maybe they are that stupid after all!!

Because of rising healthcare cost...duh!!
Do you realize how much money the company spends annually on healthcare??

I'll give you a hint...it's in the billions!!

Well.. when they switched to Davidson Vision they took away a new pair of frames ever year to every 2 years.
That change increased the cost of the warranty of lenses witch used to be covered for free.. So since you asked...yeah it is killing us
Fedex does not cover any Autism therapies, never have, looks like they never will..but they have a nice free info kit about Autism I can get for free at Fedex Office and a really nice Autism Speaks car for the races..but back to the Vision insurance..Small kids with Special needs need more than one frame every 2 years. And they need to be fitted professionally not mail ordered crappy discounts they offer if one needs frames before the 2 years. Just sayin.
Most pediatric dentists do not take Cigna anymore as they lose money because they are not beng reimbursed the cost and they lose money.

The 1st lie I can name what's not covered anymore, 2nd past practice buddy we'll see .
