Wow...we just had our healthcare meeting. I'm not sure about any other situation but my own so here is what I got out of it and when I broke it down to the person putting on the presentation, they had no argument for what I am about to post. I pay $84/yr for the individual consumer choice (aka cheapskate) coverage. In order for me to keep the exact same deductables, co payments, and percentages, I would have to enroll in the premier coverage. Now I would have to pay $840/yr for the exact same coverage in the next few months. BUT...you get $400 as an individual plan holder for your HRA I was told when I started throwing numbers, that I'll get to, at them. (On a side note, they also told me that OBGYN and pediatricians are now included and not specialists...just what a 40 year old male with individual coverage wants to here as justification for f*'ing me out of even more money) Back on track...Let's do some math, shall we? Let's say I utilized all $400 of the HRA...My cost would be $440/yr(840/yr premium mins 400HRA) to get the benefit that I'm currently getting for $84/yr. That's over five times more for the exact same coverage. The justification I was given was this has come about due to the healthcare reform act/obamacare/whatever you decide to call it. They proceeded to say FedEx pays out 1.5 billion dollars a year in healthcare benefits for it's 400,000 persons covered (employees+family/dependents)...I was not given a straight answer as to whether this was the adjusted figure after all premiums paid were factored in .

Anywho, FedEx has been given a tariff of 56 million dollars to cover people who don't have healthcare benefits. Let's simplify these numbers by taking away six decimal spots and giving Fast Freddy the benefit of the doubt that the 1.5 billion dollar estimate is true. FedEx pays $15.00 in benefits and now has to pay 56cents in tax. It equates to a 3.7% tax. What I don't get is why do I have to pay 520% more in premiums for the exact same plan to make up for this 3.7% tax.

Someone posted about our cost of living raise as making up for the higher cost...seriously? Keep drinking the Kool-Aid. That 2.5% raise didn't even keep up with the rate of inflation.

I suppose I could just **** and moan to all my fellow coworkers about how it's a bunch of BS then keep the $84/yr plan and have double my original deductable, less coverage, a 10% higher cost on in and out of network providers. I mean, after all, I wouldn't be a true FedEx employee if I didn't cry about everything and then not do a damn thing about it.

We were told the cost of healthcare was out pacing the growth of the company so they are doing this more or less to preserve more money for the company. Our woman that put on the presentation said the added cost was not from Obamacare, but from Fred trying to reduce the amount of money paid out for medical claims

I have a feeling she won't be around long. Ours said the exact opposite. Of course Fred wants to reduce the money paid out for claims.
Don't fool yourself though, Obamacare is the main reason for this healthcare disaster.

Obamacare is falling apart and the powers that be are realizing this. It is unsustainable. The Unions were suppose to get a waver from it...so said Barry, then POOF. Nope they can't LMAO!!! Thank you for the vote. Companies are getting vouchers and all this other garbage the progressives/ socialist are forcing down our throats. The Congress.....scrap that....the people in gov't don't have to be part of it, now they want their aids to be immune from it. If we as Americans let alone FXF employee's think for 1 second that they give a rats patooty what we think...we have been drinking more than the Kool-Aid.:stirthepot:So really a union is not going to help us...they are in the same boat and P*SSED. Obama's only concern is to see how much damage he can inflict before ( hopefully ) leaving office. Vote the Dem's out....it'll help a lil bit...not much because they are all the same...

As for working here at FXF...just do your job....NO MORE....when they want you to do extra....JUST SAY NO....You know what I'm talking about...when they come to you and say on those really busy day's " hey I know you just drove 500 + miles, but could ya give a hand on the dock?" NO. how bout " hey I need a trailer moved, I know your just finishing up so don't punch in and I'll take care of ya later for doin me a favor now" NO...PopEye character comes to mind. Sounds hateful...really not. All those atta boys go bye bye with one oh crap. I like my job. The politics suck. Remember winter is coming soon. Give it a try if YOU as a professional feel unsafe...go home. It's your License, Your lively hood. Be safe, be happy and remember. " Numquam Illegitimi Carborundum" (never let the bastards wear you down )

Sounds like some of you guys took the title as me talking about obamacare...

Let me copy and paste the meat and potatoes of my original post.

FedEx has been taxed 56 million dollars to fnd obamacare. Let's simplify these numbers by taking away six decimal spots. FedEx pays $15.00 in benefits and now has to pay 56cents in tax. We're about to get prison *****, corporate style, and everyone seems optimistic about the prospect of getting lube. It's ridiculous. Wake the f up.

We got your original post. We also understand that obamadontcare is not very popular and Fred knows it. He is taking advantage of that the best way he can, as most company's will. I don't think anyone is optimistic about it. I think you are seeing things that aren't there.

I think you are seeing things that aren't there.

Perhaps I am seeing seeing what others are not, perhaps I am wrong...or maybe you don't want to see it. I don't know what else to say on this matter after breaking it down to a simple statement that summarizes the facts. A different rationalization? Your municipality/state/city/county/whatever needs an additional 3.7% for emergency medical/ambulance coverage so your property taxes go up 520%. In your mode of thinking, we should all deal with it, get over it, and keep quiet.

Read the 5 page thread about updates on healthcare presentations. Look at the posts highlighter the "good" parts of the changeover. Did you attend one of the meetings personally? Idk about you but I was surrounded by sheep buying into a slobbering wolf's bs. The guys were smiling and relieved when they got their mindless questions answered...I call their questions mindless only because they were asking about things the rep already clarified but they re-worded it into an even more dumbed down language. They seemed most impressed about the HRA...lol. Then they looked at me with expressions on their faces as if to say "Where are you pulling all these numbers from Mr. SmartyPants and why are you hassling these nice people who only have our best interests at heart". Those morons must own a hell of a lot more FedEx stock than I do if they think this is a good thing. I love how everyone thinks short term anymore.

Opinions are like aholes....Everyone has one but no one has the balls to show it when it matters. This company and country are infested with polyps but everyone is too embarrassed or scared to do anything about it. Best of luck with the cancer.

If you have any interest in preserving a good job/career/life, and not only your own, take into serious consideration the famous words of WWII era Pastor Martin Niemöller concerning the German Protestant Church...

"First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me."

Knowledge is power but ignorance is bliss, I suppose.

How do you know my mode of thinking from my post?

You said "everyone seems optimistic".

I said I think you're seeing things that aren't there. I think there are many more pessimists than optimists on this discussion.

Sorry, but its kinda hard to take anything you say seriously, when you are talking about the killing of over 6 million people and Fedex Freight health insurance. You want to talk about our current and past governments? Fine. We probably agree on many things. But your quote just shows that you have no credibility on the subject.

Like I said. You aren't paying 520% more because of Obama care. You are paying 520% more because Uncle Fred and his buddies want more take home pay. Anything they can do to increase share holders profits is what they will do!

I guess my numbers don't add up and I've lost my credibility due to the fact I quoted a guy who found out what happens when you don't stand up for unfair treatment of yourself and others. I was in no way comparing our healthcare change to the holocaust. Christ, I can tell there are definitely real FXF drivers on here. I swear, some of you must have apparatus on your seat to keep something up your azzes at all times. You seem more worried about attacking my character than the fact that Fred Smith is making over a million dollars a week off of our backs and then showing his appreciation by rewarding stockholders and slowly tightening the nooses around our necks. Look what happened at Express over the last ten years, expect the same treatment. This isn't AF, Viking, or my beloved Watkins anymore. I'm trying to give you guys numbers and facts. I get personal attacks in return. Awesome.

I'm with you...

Hey.....but they got to vote for it! Sorry, but that's my favorite line from them!!

Yeah we voted for it......I earned $1465.00 dollar last week with health insurance for a family of 5 for $0.00 on a city peddle run. That's a terrible paycut, not sure if we can survive on that....LOL !! I'm just tired of working so many hours, they can keep the money.

That's all?
