UPS delivered my benifits material today. I have not had the chance to go over it.

I got my package yesterday and I've been looking through it. It looks about the same other than switching insurance companies. The cost and the co-pays look about the same.....seems like a lot of sugar coating....if you know what I mean...

And your point is?:duh:
Does it need to be spelled out for you DY?

Okay

The point is UPS teamster don't pay for their medical, dental, eyecare, legal services, death benifits, disability benifits.

Not one red cent comes from our wages.

Not one red cent? How about those dues, and by the way how is that 401K match working out for you

The best $53 I spend every month. Oh wait, we just got a raise so my dues will be going up next month. OH MY!!! Make that $54 per month now. My 401k doesn't get matched but my investment selection is doing just right in my book.

My,My that is so good . We at UPSF are so very happy for you. But by the time you add in our 401 match my investment selection is doing just right in my BOOK. :biglaugh:

Skeeter,

how come you don't factor in the $40 per week you pay in medical? For the record, I have been out since Sept. due to a vehicular accident. I have not made any contributions to my 401k since then. About 7 weeks ago, I changed the direction of my 401k investments. In those 7 weeks, I have increased the value of my 401k by $4200, and again, that is without my weekly contribution.

Okay for the umteenth time, ourdues have absolutly nothing to do with our benfits.

We pay nothing for bennies, why bring it up?

Okay the employer pays the union and the union supplies us with Medical, Dental, Hearing and Vision, Mental Health, Prescription Plan, Life, Disabilitly and Accident Plan, Legal Services, Member Assistance Plan, Retiree Assisitance Plan all foir zip, zero, nada.

I've explained it before and will do so again for those that might have missed it.

Dues are paid to run the local. They have noting to do with benifits period.
Dues pay the BAs salary, clerks payroll, overhead for local's building, etc..

401k(s), both Freight and UPS are strickly voluntary and over and above anything we already receive. They were intailly offered becuase of the pre 911 success of the stock market and whole investment world altogether.

I don't need either one of my 401ks contributed to.
I don't need my 401ks to retire with. I consider them extra little saving accounts, maybe a new car every two years when I retire or Vegas twice a year, who knows.

Tocewl, the statement was made about how much we paid for bennies. Why bring up dues and 401ks?
I realize you are just trying to level the playing feild by saying we pay for this or that so it justifies the amout you pay for your bennies but it doesn't even come close.

How much do you pay each week for Full family bennies?
Muliply that times 4
How much does Overnite/UPSF pay into you 401k. Not the percentage of your contribution, the amount?
Also how much to you put into you 401k to get the comapny to pay that much, add those two amouts toghter and divide by two.
Now muliply that times 4 and substract from the total of your monthly medical and tell,us how you pay a month.

Compare that to what we pay for dues.

BTW I'm not trying to prove you wrong, I giving the formula so you can tell us how much more or less you pay comapred to our dues. OK fine, everyone happy. Huggs and kisses T251

tocewl, would you invest $50 every month for return of at least $160?

Union dues are a non issue. I pay $56 per month but for that money I get roughly $1.00 more per hour than non union drivers do. Based on 160 hours per month of straight time, thats a $160 return on my $56 investment.
Now, when you add in overtime, pension benefits, FREE healthcare etc... you realize that the monthly dues paid is money well spent.

One other thing, Union Dues are tax deductable.

Anyone that says paying dues is a waste of money does not know all the facts

I don't have to factor in anything. I pay around 36.00 a week. I can make changes in the direction of my 401 and have done so.
So again I am very happy for you. I am happy with what I have also.
Hope I don't disappoint you but there are people in this world that do a lot better than both of us. And a lot of people do a lot worse than us.

That is just life. If I was unhappy with my driving record and experience I can go where ever I want to. But I am happy here.

$180 per month for family insurance, plus $12.50 a month for dental. UPSF contributes .50 cents on the dollar of our contribution up to 7% of our yearly wage. (IE: based on a $80,000 per year, IF we contribute 7% [$5600] UPSF would contribute their max of $2800 [50 cents of 7% of $80,000] as long as we contribute the 7% of $5600 or more.)

If you take those numbers $2800 - $2310 paid in insurance, + 636 in union dues = approx $ 94 per month, it doesn't take long in delay, OT, breakdown, weather delay cents per mile, hourly wage, decreased pay to make up for that. :duh: (actually less than 5 hours of delay per week!) not counting the benefits of retirement offered with a contract that would cost us nothing!! And maybe a little more job security without all the scare tactics.

Simple deal guys, sign a card!!!:smilie_132:
