Some office has to set the minimums if you fall under these levels you qualify for x amount of aid.
Typically the feds have a more generous program than cash strapped states.

    billions?
    how about trillions
    each and every year

of course, when you put 1/4 of the state out of work because of the "WAR ON COAL" someone has to support those people
maybe if DCgrad would let them work, we would not be such a burden

Trump owns no casinos in Atlantic City, he has divested himself from them

Our "modern" Political system is dominated by the Republicans and the Democrats...and together they have won every Presidential Election since 1852 and have have controlled Congress to some degree or another since 1856....... I know that sounds rather obvious, but the point it makes is that as the level of Corporate power and influences grew.....and continue to grow unchecked, it's very obvious that both could more easily be purchased, as opposed to having several, by the ever increasing wealth and the power that comes along with it....... FDR didn't start this downhill process.......as a matter of fact FDR, when compared to his predecessor, H Hoover, accomplished a great deal that benefited Americans then and helped this Nation to become what it was..and I say "was" because the corrupting influences of money in Politics has been steadily eroding the very fabric that has made this a great Nation.....a process that has been accelerated in more recent years, with no end in sight.

Our Government and the entire Political System, from the local level to the National level, has been infected with corruption and greed and it is my opinion that it is beyond "fixing"......... We have a very very few Politicians that are honest and have the best interests of the American Citizens in mind......far to few to have any positive impact...

Final question: What violations of the Constitution do you refer to, and who was responsible for those violations?

When it comes to spending Billions...or Trillions each and every year, I'd rather spend it on taking care of our Citizens here rather than spending it on War and killing all over the World......We could do a LOT more good by using our resources to better ourselves and those around the World than by using them to destroy........ I know we disagree here.......you seem to think that War spending is far more important that taking care of Nations People and infrastructure...... It's about priorities.....I guess some peoples Priorities are different than others....but to me, it's, We the people, that are more important than the billionaires and huge Corporations that profit off of war........

The constitution specifies very limited enumerated rights to the federal government. Many of the things the federal government has grown and continue to expand upon are well outside of the defined scope. I agree with you on the corruption, etc. The only hope I think we might have to reverse course and save it at this point might be through congressional term limits. Those would basically eliminate the effectiveness of the big lobby groups that have controlled our govt for far too long....

Let's lower taxes...Lower than any country in the world, we will then have money for roads, SS, and the military.
    But, I agree with pilot ..... "it's to late". It's a shame.

And how about what is going on in Flint Michigan with a republican Governor allowing the people of Flint white and black a like to be living with poisonous water for two years sitting on the fact that people were becoming sick and literally destroying the futures of the children because of brain damage . Snyder relived the power of the mayor of Flint and replaced her with a hand picked as they call it a manager . Seems that the residents of Flint would have been better off with the nonsense the democrats do , at least it doesn't bring brain damage and other disastrous disorders of mental and physical permanent damage. Snyder expects these folks after all this to continue to pay their water bills . This is how dictator ship starts .

But you seem like you are fine with the hundreds of thousands that were killed and billions of dollars spent in that conflagration, that basically assured we would head down the path of "big government"?

And the folks elected by the people of a particular state wouldn't be capable of handling it? If they weren't, I would think the reponsibility would fall on those voters and not some all seeing, all knowing being behind the curtain in Washington dc.....

Was this country founded in the principle that a ruling class, or anyone for that matter, should force anything on its citizens? King George found out that the hard way. I guess it has been a long time since the tea party in Boston, but it seems like many have forgotten the folks that died so they wouldn't have to be forced by their government into things that the people don't support.....

BTW.....I didn't mention liberals, you did......I am against big federal government, regardless of which "party" would be in control....

Gov. Snyder must be trying to cleanse the gene pool in Flint, which is good for America. Just kidding.

With all seriousness, not only should they NOT have to pay their water bill, but the State or City of Flint should be held responsible for the medical bills that can be proven and linked to the water.
But make no mistake about Flint, the Democrat policies of that city and the education system there, have done more damage to brain cells than any tainted water ever could.

Snyder apologized for the incompetence and failure of the system. Isn't that good enough? That's usually sufficient when it comes to the Democrats. Just apologize and everything is A-OK.

Someone needs to be held accountable for not fixing this water system immediately.

You say that......but every Democrat run Metro is loaded with soup lines, homeless, and jobless. I guess that it would be safe to say that the Liberal's "war on poverty" is getting it's hinder kicked.

truth is I don't want to go to war anywhere
we don't fight a war to win and haven't in 70 years. In war you get in break things, kill people and get out
today we want to fight a "war" where no one dies and nothing gets broken, that is not war.
So if we are not going to fight it properly, I would rather not be invested in it at all.

As for taking care of our citizens, that is great , I agree, we should. America first. Why bring tens of thousands of refuges here or allow hundreds of thousands of illegals in when we have our own citizens living in poverty and unable to find jobs?

That said, military spending is Constitutional, social welfare programs are a states issue, not a federal issue.

Industry use to be concentrated in the metro areas, then moved out into the burbs, then they moved to China.
