But WHY is Hoffa in the pic. he don't give a s*** about us anymore , if he cared he would have stepped in years ago when all these were going under and said gee we can't keep this fund going when less driver's are paying in and more are collecting from the fund , Hoffa needs to go , but the mafia will keep him voted in one way or another !!!:duel:

I agree that hoffa needs to go. Its going to take more than that to get the ball rollin. Rank and file need to .come together so others in the trucking industry will hear about something positive taking place with the teamsters instead of what they hear and see now. The more the merrier. Couldnt hurt the organizing effort. No more mou's.

Bernie is the only candidate on either side that genuinely is prounion, unfortunately it doesn't look like he will become the democratic nominee.

Wong, I don't blame GP Hoffa for the Pension woes as much as I blame the individual Fund Managers and Trustees both Union and Company.
Also, his Father set it up this way to give each Local and/or Region their own little Kingdoms to Rule over.
I said to many of my Contemporary's that once De-regulation was signed into law, and NMFA Carriers were shutting down, this should have been immediately addressed, it wasn't, there are many of Our Leaders that are to blame. Just like in Politics, we tend to blame the POTUS, when actually, it's Congress with the real power.

Yes, and Hoffa Jr isn't one of them. Deregulation was not his idea. I,m curious as to what your solution was. You, and every one else who was paying attention, saw the end coming. It's a wonder you didn't share the solution with us. It has pretty much puzzled every one else as to how to stop the decline of the American working class.

It is not Hoffa who is electing hard right conservatives to state legislatures and attempting to pack the court system with anti labor judges.

It is only partly failed leadership that got us here. The rank and file got hoodwinked.

How many times have you seen Trumps name, the owner of the biggest un unionized casino, written on the back of union trucks. That's not Hoffa's fault. But that the people he's got to work with.

Slim, in the mid seventies, there would be occasional articles about deregulating the Trucking Industry in the Teamster Magazine from time to time. I once asked my BA Local # 560 if this was going to happen ? He replied, nah, don't worry Kid.
Everyone was in denial at the time. There wasn't an Internet, Smart Phones etc., all we had was printed Media.

Fast forward to post Deregulation, we're all scratching our heads and wondering what the heck happened. I was asking what's going to happen to the Pensions, without any real answers. I only raised questions, I didn't have any solutions, I only have an HS. education It's a very complicated complex problem. All I know is that cutting from Retiree's is not the best answer, it's a stop gap measure at best and very troubling.

As to your other point, I believe you're seeing Trump on back doors because We as a Nation are very frustrated with Washington, DC. and he is an Outsider, that has gotten things accomplished in his personal life. Will he be able to do any of the things he has mentioned...maybe or maybe not.

I think you're seeing the same frustration in the Democratic Party with a 74 yr. old disheveled Socialist giving Hillary a hard way to go..

Agree this should have been addressed back when all these NMFA Carriers were shutting down !! but Hoffa as the leader he is suppose to be should have saw a problem back then too though !! and yes the fund managers failed to do their job too !!

Ok, but what about Fitzsimmons, Presser, McCarthy and Carey ? Let's be honest, there aren't any clean hands.

What we are witnessing in this election is the end of the Reagan revolution which includes Bill Clonton and president Obama. People are finally figuring out Reaganomics was totally devastating to the middle class. Trickle down tax cuts, deregulation, globalization, and union busting has gutted the middle class and you see populist messages shared by Trump and Bernie catching fire.

carter deregulated the trucking industry when he signed the MOTOR CARRIER ACT OF 1980 into law on 7-1-80, if sanders had his way, we will have another payroll tax, our income taxes will increase and there will be a national sales tax.

So let me get this straight you're supporting an admitted socialist for president of the United States? Which is more important your Union or your country?

I'm surprised someone hasn't filed a lawsuit against lawyer boy Hoffa, for failing to disclose his stupidity. When was the last time a democrat did anything that's had a positive effect on Teamster truckers? They talk-talk-talk, promise-promise-promise, yet in all reality all they want is your vote. No different than Hoffa!
