Taxes is a tough nut to crack, all I know is if they could find a way for people to not have to waste time, money, and peace of mind every year filing taxes, I'd be on board for that.

Yeah, not a fun time for me. I am okay with a time-consuming task if it results in a savings worth my time. If a flat tax ends up costing me an extra $10K in taxes but saves me 2 days in preparing and filing, it's certainly not worth it.

I always love when entertainers or athletes get involved with politics
John Lennon drove Rolls, was he willing to give that up for "the cause"

The only guy that was 100% honest was Gene Simmons
"Anyone who tells you they got into rock n' roll for reasons other than girls, fame and money is full of s$#t."

Jimmy wasn't around in the 60's but I was, I grew up surrounded by these phony loons talking all their peace and love bull....most of them were the biggest rump orifices going. Now they're all college professors pimping their disingenuous baloney to another generation. By the way, John Lennon came to the US to escape the high taxes in England, and all the people that knew him personally said he was a dick. Not only that, he was responsible for giving us Yoko Ono celebrity, he can never be forgiven for that. This is the worst piece of crap ever, and Lennon is on stage with her. LMFAO

Aren't most super celebrities big dicks?
They weren't running for office they were going with the movement at the time You know Hell no I won't go.
That was the peasant class that said that the smarter ones got school deferments and ingrown anal hair deferments.
You can blow it all off but it had a lot of great things going, I would love to have them back in place of the monsters we have now.

Yes and no. I was too young (16 in 1970), but my parents let me run around with 24 yr old VietNam Vets, mostly. Trusted them to get me out of the trouble that running with kids my own age started.

First time I heard a Rock Song was All Right Now by Free, followed by Magic Carpet Ride on my Cousin's 64 Sting Ray 8 track, as he pulled wheelies....

When I went back to school had to take an advanced content course
    Took US History from 1945
The professor was a former hippy Vietnam protestor (had giant blown up pix of he and his friends all over the classroom)
He claimed none of that happened, was made up (despite documentation)
Hated that class, depised him, got through

The spitting on returning Vietnam vets ahh I don't think it happened or it was a single incident.
Mostly they had no welcome home except by family, they spent a year there and went back state side, all in smaller groups.
You got to remember that war was extremely unpopular at home and then when that Mei Lai massacre was revealed it was a shock to the public..
We got to watch on the evening news our soldiers shot and blown up being medivacked off the battlefield and we seen them die. We seen the citizens burned and shot and others executed. It was in your face, the way it should be.
Say what you want but the news coverage was much more honest and open then we have had since.

    I disagree completely
    News came through Walter Cronkite
plenty was covered up and ignored

If we had the same coverage today as then, it would be the same as Pravda or Dr. Goebbels "Ministry of Enlightenment"
you would know nothing except what the state wanted you to know

It may have been a more "respected" profession because they were not all political hacks

People at home didn't have the internet back then but every eveining news we seen what was going on in Veitnam.
Contrast that with the invasion of Iraq where reporters sat in the 'war propaganda dissemination room" where the military brass would show them how they smart bombed someone that day. Reporters were kept in the closet so we didn't see anything bad here at home.
Talk about 'Pravda or Dr. Goebbels "Ministry of Enlightenment'

But you didn't care because Bush was a Republican and whatever he did there must be good reason for, it was a war with terror.

Did you really "see" what was going on in Vietnam, or did you see what they wanted you to see?
Remember the censors, from Good Morning Vietnam, yes the news was censored
Do you think all the news coming out of Europe or the Pacific was first run? all censored

Did I want reporters inbedded with our troops in Iraq.Afghanistan, No, considering how left winged the MSM is, any time a US soldier fired at the enemy without being shot at first and having a lawyer hand them the bullet they were permitted to fire back, that is not how you fight a war.
