Remember when you were hired as a P@D driver, your goal in life was to snag that coveted position of the HOME DEPOT position. That slot ,that was earned from hard work, dependability, completing your route ,day after day, with positive numbers, and the determination to please every customer you deliver to without hesitation? All, in hope of one day, you are given that HOME DEPOT EXCLUSIVE route. The only thing better than that, would be a line haul slot, which comes to a driver once in a blue moon!!!! The home depot slot was a way of thanking a p@d driver for all the hard work and dedication that was displayed by that associate for the time they spent dropping and picking up freight for the terminal. Here, in West Palm Beach, the opposite is true... I have been a P@D driver for 6 years. I now am in a leadership posistion , but in the past ,I have been a wild runner, a route driver, and, on occasion, a home depot delivery specialist. Now, at the West Palm Beach terminal, all you need to do to get that home depot delivery position is to do AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE AND AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE , EVERYDAY ! Instead of trying to improve the laxidasial driver, into a competitive mind set ,they reward them with a home depot slot. Mean while, the drivers who do the most and deliver the bulk of the terminals deliveries and pick ups, are battered by dispatch about their performance. When X runs are developed, it is the slug who benefits, because instead of rewarding the hard worker with a drop and hook or a 2 stopper, it is given to the SLUG ,and the most labor intensive drop(s) are given to the hard worker who deserves a break, but is denied that break, because he has to do the work of that SLUG, because that SLUG does not want to work!!!!

instead of worrying about what other guys are doing try concentrating on doing your job.sometimes if you give a slug enough rope he hangs himself .just continue to work hard and let everything else work itself out .remember that no matter where your at you have about 30 percent that will do more than bare minimum and about 5 percent of those are the real tigers that hang it all out everyday and do it without complaining.be a tiger man .believe me its not going unnoticed

You can have the H.D. that should be set up for a semi retired guy, standing around drives me nutts! and I ain't no ball of fire. But if your getting stuck with floor loads and sort&seg then you def need a change

The same goes on in my barn. If you run hard and get your freight off you get rewarded with a lot more work. The people that bring it back and let others clean up the tough deliveries are the ones that get the solids to run most often. I understand his frustration not all runs are the same. This is why I wish we bid on runs.

just kidding

Your in leadership, slugs get rewarded. Whats wrong with this picture:hysterical::biglaugh: Just kidding, I know what you mean, but it always works out in the end, always.:1036316054:

here at COL, come in on friday at 830 run your combined route. get your 16 stops off, then get your 12 pickups, that cover 2 routes. then get back to the term at 5:45 have your dispatcher hand you your home depot bills. while that driver who came in at 930 is clocking out, get back in your truck it is now 600, take that 45 min ride to the home depot with at the traffic backed up. arrive at the home depot at 645. you back in,(if you get lucky and your not stuck waiting for the dock) walk inside and see that they have sh** everywhere. they tell you they have to make room, it is now 730 your start getting unloaded, after 1 1/2 you are empty, it is now 900, take that 45 min ride back to the barn. clock out and go home it is now close to 1000. Did I mention that there were aleast 10 drivers rotated today.

arrive at work at 830 for your usuall run. Get your bills and you notice that your run is combined with another route. You go directly on the dock and look into your trailer and you see SH** everywhere. You start cussing to your self while you hook up to your trailer, you have 16 stops today. You log onto the computer, you get to your 3rd stop, and your computer is going off, (here come the pickups) you notice that this are pickups in another area, you are still cussing to yourself. You finally get your delivereies off, you also manage to get all those pickups too, you pull into a service station grab a drink and a pack of crackers, you head to your last pickup, you complete it, they then say bring it on in. You arrive back at the barn, you go inside, and then they hand you home depot bills, while the newbies are clocking out, by the way they came in later than you. you then proceed to home depot, where you could careless about the freight, b/c all you want to do is go home.

Welcome to a day at SEFL for its senior drivers.

Don't be offended Mike Jones but with all the complaining you do on this board, it doesn't surprise me when they make you go back out after you come in from your route. Does this happen to you often? When you see other guys going home, do you think they are picking on you? Could it be that dispatch looks at you as a whiner? Maybe you should just be thankful and appreciate the extra hour or 2 the HD run will give you in these hard times where we are working less hours, and having to do more with less. Just remember one thing MIKEJONES, we get paid by the hour for a reason. When they make you deliver in one area and pick up in another, just sit back take a deep breath and go do it, who cares if you get it all done on time.
Just a little advise Mike Jones don't take it personal. My opinion when you don't complain and just do what they want you to do most of the time, then eventually they give in and when you want to go home early on a friday they will let you...I like to say "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours".....it works for me.

driva you dont know me and im tired of being attacked for everything i say, i believe that 95% of the people at southeastern think they are perfect people b/c they never say or do anything wrong. and just so you know i dont complain when they tell me to do something i just find it ridicilous, anyone who has been here awhile knows it does no good to complain at this company, thats just a quicker way to get yourself out the door. This company is sitting guys at home who need to work, and the bad thing is this company can work them, they are just trying to save money and work the rest of us to death. To all the Perfect people on here if you have anything negative to say to me, keep it to your self.

lets look at this from another angle. Lets say that they worked another driver. He come in at 7, works the dock 1 hour. He then prceeds to city dispatch where he receives his home depot bills, hooks up, pre trips, and drives 45 min to cust. No wait at dock, there an hour drives 45 min to term and gets sent home because there is no more work. Lets say he got 4 hours, great:1036316054:home early to get things done. Oh crap, he's next on rotation :chairshot: now he's got 4 hours in two days. since you are getting 13.5 hours, 3 days a week according to other posts of yours, I dont think you have anything to complain(I'm sorry, rejoice) about. I cant believe I'm about to say this but here it is, you don't see the big picture. Enough said for now!

mike jones is a lilcrybaby everyone,i still say we ban him...haha,just kidding about the banishment,we just need to realize that nothing will make him happy and he will always fuss.no this job isnt perfect but what jobs are!!!

Maybe mikejones is not seeing the big picture after all. Everyday I pray that I can make God proud of the job I am about to do. Everything that happens to us, God plans so to make us stronger and instead of complaining (to yourself) be thankful for all that he gives you. When you stop at the service station to get crackers look at that fellow sitting there homeless, hungry and without anything, give him your crackers and coke and thank God for giving you so much. Don't go to work each day thinking you are doing it for the man, you should dedicate each day to God and trust in him and everything else will fall into place. I hope you find peace brother.

amen freighttrain,we should do all of our work as if we are doing it for God HImself and be joyous in our labors.sometimes thats the only thing that gets me through
