I didn't put many miles on the 405, when Ryder bought Great Southern they did away with sleepers, we just ran
them a short while before trading them.
They did not drive well, could not see out of them well, didn't ride any better, they were just big and impressive and I loved them.
We were still running single axles in those days, 200 cummins, R96 Fuller Trans. 72 mph
Only had 20 of these in the fleet, It was nice to get one of these compared to a A50 gas burning Mack or KB 11 IHC

Yep. I made $12.00 as casual in 1987. Got hired, was paid $10.36 plus insurance. Was 70%/80%/90%/100%. 1988 contract changed it to 85%, 90% 95% 100%, so I got a raise.
