Same in Buffalo. Union is grieving but who knows what will happen. I look at it like this. They can't find enough drivers now. This will only exacerbate the problem.

Another thing that I and others are going to do is turn off our cell phones off at work. They call or text us now to get in touch with us. My phone is for my convenience not theirs. If something changes and it usually does its going to be a royal pain for them. Tough to fire us or write us up when we follow the rules.

Follow the rules at sysco they can't fire that is right. Our opco says no phones on customer property in the trailer or in truck. Also we can not get caught turning the radio. You are right turn the phone off beat them at there on game. They have track my truck let them come find you.

I heard it's beyond a Local issue, that the International is telling Sysco nationwide that the policy needs to be negotiated since its a change from the way it's being handled now. We'll see, could be something that blows up later this summer.
One and done, barring a fatality or something incredibly stupid on the driver's part, is just ridiculous. Telling a driver he can't use cb or gps is stupid and you're right they can't find and keep people as it is. If they start firing over stupid stuff like this sooner or later the well will run dry then what?

You'd think they would've learned something. Treat your people right and you won't have any problems. Nope "Let's come up with another policy to push more people out the door".

Where I work you can use a CB heck the shop has CB antenna's as stock items in case one breaks off.

Spongebob, 2wheeldriver, sabresfan, anyone else out there in Sysco land, have they put the new distracted driving policy into place in your neck of the woods yet? Still haven't brought it up here in KC.

Yes sir in effect for us as july 1st they already got 1 driver. Funny thing is we have more routes than drivers and yet they still fire someone over something stupid like this.

Does your Sysco's bend the rules for certain people. Word its Sysco C-Town is has there favorites and management is good at sweeping under the rug. Suppose every place is like that to some extent.

They put up on the board 4 in the Northeast were fired already. This will come back and bite them. To many baby boomers are getting ready to retire soon and we can't get enough drivers now.

That's just insane. Im all for safety but don't understand how any of them could see running people off with a one and done policy as a good idea when they're short drivers everywhere.

There's other companies that would love to pick us up. You can't be shy about reminding them. I don't throw it in their face but they know me and many others won't hesitate if we have to move on.
