ENCINITAS, Calif. -- An out-of-control dump truck careened off a North County street and plowed into a home Wednesday, injuring the driver, authorities reported.
The accident occurred in the 400 block of Dunsmore Court in Encinitas about 10 a.m., sheriff's Lt. Scott Rossall said.
"I was wondering why it had exploded, and I looked around and the front end of the house was gone and there was a truck in there," said home owner Pat Richardson.
The truck just missed Richardson, who had left her living room only moments before the crash.
The truck's driver had passed out behind the wheel, taking his passenger by surprise.
Medics took the driver of the truck to a hospital.
The passenger and Richardson were uninjured.
