A transport truck carrying 18,143 kilograms of frozen Alberta beef fetched up under an overpass in downtown Fredericton Wednesday morning, stopping traffic and blocking a riverfront walking trail.

The truck made it halfway through the 3.5 metre space before a slight dip in the road wedged the trailer between the underpass and the street. The bridge peeled the top off the trailer, exposing dozens of cardboard boxes of beef shipped from a Calgary processor.

Martin says it's not uncommon for trucks to get stuck under the bridge, but it's always a major ordeal to get them out. "It's probably happened three or four times in my career, and that's 25 years," he said. "It's once in awhile."
