Why fill up on Bread Sticks when a Four Course Meal is in the Kitchen

Independent Investigations Officer Joseph diGenova withdrew obstruction charges against General Secretary Treasurer Ken Hall in a letter dated February 17. The withdrawal of charges appeared to let Hall off the hook, but not so fast. The obstruction charges were just one piece of a much broader investigation involving the Hoffa/Hall administration. Insiders maintain the obstruction issues were far from the main event. Could the investigators just be clearing the deck for more substantial subjects? Such as those contained in the anonymous report, from an IBT insider, that has been the focus of investigations since the summer of 2015.

.

On the day before the IIO was withdrawing the Hall charges, diGenova issued his annual report. In it he took Hoffa/Hall to task and denounced the IBT for its “bad faith”. The report, available below, focused not just on the refusal to provide 32,000 emails but also blasted General President Hoffa by name for purposefully delaying his running mate Rome Aloises disciplinary hearing. Both the obstruction in providing documents and the hearing delays were designed to hide Hoffa/Hall corruption from Teamster members until after the IBT election. It makes little sense to issue such a strongly worded report if Hall is no longer the subject of potential discipline.

Even with their constant election rules violations and use of union resources to influence the vote, Hoffa/Hall lost the election in the United States. Teamster members expect and deserve a fair and honest election process. Teamsters also expect those in supervisory roles to guarantee a fair and honest vote, including when necessary the ordering of a rerun election.

We know this is just the tip of the iceberg.
