Here's a suggestion for Con-Way drivers who have real concerns about your pension plans! With all the rumors flying around lately about pension shenanigans with the top execs, etc...you guys need to know the truth and your rights!
Contact the Pension Rights Center in Washington D.C. at Pension Rights Center: Home (you know where to put the dots) or call them at 202-296-3776 for fax them at 202-296-1571. When you get to their website you can click onto "Pension Help" and then click onto "Counseling Projects". There you will find offices into 25 states. Call them and tell them your concerns. They will help you get the info from your pension plans that you need to make informed decisions about your retirement future.
Don't listen to the s**t house attorneys/accountants at your barns, or the corporate attorneys/spin-doctors at Ann Arbor or San Mateo, who will feed you a good line or balk at giving you the right info.
Stick together on this, be proactive, and get a jump on the company's potential plans to freeze, modify, or eliminate your pension plans altogether. I know it's not easy sometimes being non-union, and being easily intimidated by the management, let alone the corporate execs....but this is your pension money, and you worked for it! Make sure you get what's coming to you! Let us know how you guys make out!
