Could be if they follow the UPS model which is the largest Teamster company in the world . UPS found value in a unionized labor force lets hope that XPO will do the same .Just a thought about the Conway buyout.
This XPO company is pretty diversified already, and clearly attempting to become more diversified, and not tied to just one single industry. Now compare that to UPS. UPS is a money making machine because of their diverse operation.
Could they become the next big thing that was smart enough to follow the UPS business model?
I was thinking that a credit downgrade wouldn't take place until after the transaction...too late to squash the deal. But not too late to jack up interest rates, which vary depending on credit rating. Story sounds vewy vewy familiar.A credit down grade does not necessarily stop the purchase from going through. It's not a good thing, but it's also not a deal breaker.
They just froze hiring, this place was dead as a door nail all weekhttp://www.conwaylayoff.com/ , Holland's H.R. Dept. needs to go after these laid off Conway people too !!
Didn't here that Holland froze hiring , hell we still need 20 plus drivers to fill in on Fridays & Mondays and linehaul still short too ??They just froze hiring, this place was dead as a door nail all week

They did here, had 3 drivers going through the process then cancelled putting up cross bids, said everything was froze. Linehaul guys sitting home. Could just be the new manager disrupting production as the cause, who knowsDidn't here that Holland froze hiring , hell we still need 20 plus drivers to fill in on Fridays & Mondays and linehaul still short too ??
Their hasn't been a (Union) threat for a very long time!I think this is the second stage of collapse of the ltl business. First was the deregulation of the industry creating 100's of Union ltl companies closing doors. What have we said forever " without the union threat what will happen to non union wage"? Now you could be seeing the first stages of wage reduction to a top of the line non Union company.
UPS has figured how to get the most work done efficiently out of their work force and not bogged down with ancient anti productive work rules, and pays the best wages for that work.Could be if they follow the UPS model which is the largest Teamster company in the world . The guys on the XPO Conway board don't sound quite as gun ho after the first day with the new company! Should be a fun story to watch develop in the next few months!
