FedEx Freight | CORPORATE communication FEEDBACK

This past week we had the honor of having Mr Ducker come and finally speak to the drivers in CLT (he wasn't allowed to speak with the drivers the last time he was in town for obvious reasons).
During this voluntary meeting, Mr Ducker spoke about the 2020 plan (while exposing the rampant lies that were being portrayed at the time) and during his speech, he touched on something that most of us found to be intriguing...as part of the plan to improve our technology, he talked about an app that's being created where we can access every company policy from our smartphones. Doing away with our handbooks was not about hiding our policies so they can change them on a whim (as some portrayed), but rather a cost cutting move which is why they're currently available on any kiosk at any center. When asked about receiving an alert or notification when there's a change to a policy, it was said that that's something that would be made avaible within the app and that every employee would have access to the app. (For those who still use dumb phones, you'll still have to rely on the kiosks) :poke:
I personally find this type of advancement to be a great benefit for all employees (and long overdue IMO) to be able to access our policies right from our phones when we need them the most instead of having to wait until we find a kiosk.

And at my center if you ask them to print you a copy of something from the online handbook......
Nope, sorry (not really), no can do.

Let me get this straight he couldn't come after you all voted in union for obvious reasons but he came the other day before the vote when union was still there. Am I missing something?

Absolutely...once we filed our decert petition on June 20th, that legally allowed the company to enter back into campaign mode..and the meeting with Mr Ducker was not only voluntary, it was two days before our election. Before our petition, such a meeting could've resulted in a ULP for "attempting to coerce" employees.

Note: Since you are officially dead to me on TB, this response was directed at Swamp, since he "liked" your post, and the rest of the class.

I seem to recall the Company being forbidden from participating in such a campaign, per Joe B-rock, I think it was. 2 days before a vote is certainly part of the campaign period.

Of course I never bought the logic that a meeting (not during a campaign) would be considered a ULP. Part of running the company, IMHO. Lots of misinformation, unchallenged opinions, etc.

Water under the bridge... You won with a pretty good margin. Glad you got an in person meeting. Ducker is a genuine good guy.

According to the NLRB, the day before an election (24hrs) is considered a "cool down" period and "group meetings" are not allowed, two days prior is fair game.

You've never dealt with a union at your center, otherwise you'd understand why the company errored on the side of caution...and we're so glad they did!! :1036316054:

Agreed, hopefully we can all move forward and heal the wounds brought forth by the company and the union....and yes, I found Mr Ducker to be a lot like Sheridan Garrison, except he dresses a little nicer!!

Come on red your my brother from another mother. Well maybe not I don't have clowns in my family but if I did we would be brothers. Lol

Big meeting on Freight 2020 showed much of what is to come. I would recommend everyone catch it if you can. Many details on "what's to come"

Significant technology coming fast. Too much to list here, and full disclosure might not be suitable for public consumption, right now.

The RFID will drive a lot of the change. as will dimensional scaning.

New Smartphone/handheld will be app based and said to include "motorcarrier grade" GPS/mapping. Pre and post trip inspections to be integrated.

Keep an eye out for a large number of job openings under the description " Change Management Specialist". I did ask if these would be local positions... Answer? Likely to be in Memphis...

Also asked how these significant costs will be spread out, reported, and charged against earnings. Unable to answer that one, at this time...

Stay tuned. 21st century and beyond, here we come...

Agreed, although they'll be growing pains I believe the best is yet to come!!

Here's another issue, our local safety guy says the 2018 tractors, the camera reads the speed limit signs, and if you're driving 5+ over the limit, will activate the engine brake and foundation brakes (axles) to reduce speed, while sending a video to the company for coaching.
