GRAY SUMMIT, Mo. – Two buses carrying high school band students to an amusement park Thursday slammed into a freeway wreck that happened right in front of them, crushing a pickup truck and killing its driver, as well as one of the students. Dozens of other students were treated for injuries.

The wreck near Gray Summit, about 40 miles west of St. Louis, happened when the pickup truck rear-ended a semi cab that had slowed down because it was nearing a construction zone, state police said. The first bus, which was carrying female band members from John F. Hodge High in St. James, slammed into the back of the pickup, then was launched on top of it after it was rear-ended by the second bus, State Highway Patrol Cpl. Jeff Wilson said

GRAY SUMMIT, Mo. – Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board looking into the horrific interstate crash that killed a 15-year-old girl on a school bus and the driver of another vehicle are evaluating what could be done to make school buses safer, an NTSB official said Friday.

"We've been interested for some time in school bus safety," NTSB Vice Chairman Christopher Hart said at a news conference. "We're also interested in construction zone safety."

MOSCOW – Deaths in Moscow have doubled to an average of 700 people a day as the Russian capital is engulfed by poisonous smog from wildfires and a sweltering heat wave, a top health official said Monday.

This pilot has Nerves of Steel, probably couldn’t do this again even if he tried! -


The F-35 is a vertical takeoff supersonic jet for the Navy and the Marines.
I would say there's nothing about this incident the pilot enjoys other than
the end result.
If he could have ejected at 100' upside down and lived, he would have.

Looks like the afterburner kicks in while still vectored for vertical
takeoff. DUH!
Lockheed would call this a "software malfunction" and needs to do a little
more "regressive testing". Good demo of power-to-weight ratio of this
aircraft! And some unbelievable stability control.
If he didn't come out of the loop wings-level, it probably would have been
bad news, maybe taking some of the carrier with him!
Flying through your own exhaust can lead to equipment malfunctions, too, but
fortunately he avoided that.
This is probably the most unbelievable piece of flying you will ever see in
your life. This is how a supremely well-trained US Navy pilot with ice water
running in his veins instead of blood, fully regains control of his $70
million fighter jet, after a problematic vertical take-off attempt that
would have killed you or me.
At the top of the screen watch as the rear vertical thruster fires to cause
the problem.
