For many it's healthcare Buck. I'm fortunate that I can go off on my wife's plan. Many don't have that option.

Train, I know this is not a good time to start a union fight, but you are right, your company doesn't need the Teamsters,
    sounds like you do.
The most discipline a Teamster would receive for something this trivial would be a warning letter, and it probably wouldn't
    fly.
    Best of luck to you

That won't be my fight because I can retire now if I wanted to. I just want to make it until the end of the year if possible. I just hope the guys here at SAIA understand that if the Teamsters couldn't push that through at FedEx then they damn sure couldn't do it at SAIA. Any upside to the Teamsters is far outweighed by the downside.

As I start this day let it be known that I know what's happening. I've known for awhile. I think everyone has their ducks in a row or at least getting very close. I'm ready. I've been ready. They so underestimate me. It will be very interesting to see how things play out long term.

All of this Drama because you rolled through a stop sign? What the hell is that all about. Do they even care about freight deliveries anymore or are they only worried about this insignificant BS?

Train, I have to commend you for being man enough to talk about this on the boards. I always felt you told it like it is.

If I had 25+ to go I'd search out a different career, and I'm not being a smart ass.

I've always tried to be objected but I haven't always been successful. After all that would make me perfect.
If I was ever able to get through to corporate I would only give them some suggestions of how to keep drivers from shutting down and quitting. Turnover is a big expense to companies and should be kept to a minimum. Some managers are very condescending to drivers and that's no way to motivate people. I'm certain that all of management isn't that way but you do have a few that need to learn some people skills. See I'm on the inside and many drivers feel they are working in a hostile work environment and I'd like to help eliminate that mindset. I'm not trying to start any trouble. I just want to help management bridge that gap. I don't think they want my advice but I would be willing to give them some if asked. That's all I'm saying for those asking me what I would tell them.

We are all nothing more than a number, meat in the seat, easily replaceable, disposable, they don't want our help.

Unfortunately for Saia, this disconnect between driver and manager seems to be growing wider by the day. It's really unfortunate that Saia cannot embrace this void as an opportunity to improve, or a "performance improvement plan" as the phrase that they like to throw around. Managers are not perfect, and they are not all bad. But a few bad apples with bad attitudes are throwing things out of whack and causing issues within Saia.

Like I said before, if you can...go out on your own. I know the insurance is a great benefit, but you can go on the exchange and get a decent plan for not a lot of money. Plus, you will be making A LOT more out on your own. So the cash is really a wash. Life is too short to be miserable.

XPO president sounded like he couldn't wait to get rid of drivers on cnbc. I would assume many more presidents and owners can't wait to get rid of us. We are driving trucks that SLAM on the brakes for no reason! This forward radar thing is dangerous for me and your family on the road! Can these units get hacked? Drivers being called in the office to view camera footage that reveals nothing. This has become a joke!!!! I believe this reveals how much the front office likes us.

Joe, if you read the entire post you would see I said that. I know they don't want my opinion. I know my place here Joe. Trust me, they recently put me in it but I've known it all along.

When I read threads like this it amazes me that the Teamsters Union doesn't have a presence in every single one of our companies. I don't understand why drivers continue to let these LTL's get away with the things they do.

For all of the faults of the Teamster's Union, and there are many, nonsense like this would be 100% preventable. At the risk of insulting someone, I just can't believe so many drivers have their heads so far up their ass they can't see this.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Our last contract included language that permits the company to use uncorroborated technology to issue discipline to us. Given that language just what could the teamsters do for us in that situation?
