Delaware is completely run by Democrats. Governor - Lt Governor - 2 US Senators - 1 US Representative in Congress. Any public funds they get, including tolls, goes directly towards their next election, in their pockets or to the DNC.
Now they will be at the head of the line asking for hand-outs of Federal money to fix state infrastructure (such as bridges neglected over the last 8 years).

All the excess traffic will probably kill the nearest alternative, The Burlington Bristol Bridge, which, by the way, is a drawbridge.
