Not quite......I want what America was founded to be.

Too many folks nowadays believe that everyone should be equal.

America wasn't founded in order for everyone to be equal.

America was founded on the premise that everyone has the OPPORTUNITY to be equal. What one does with that opportunity is up to them.....

Far too many folks nowadays take the opportunity part for granted and expect the equality to be given to them as a matter of course...

Your Asia examples don't necessarily have merit due to the fact that those systems have generally never had the premise of equal opportunity.

"Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires."

Socialism never took root in America because there were still plenty of folks that remembered that their fathers fought and died to get out from under monarchical rule and a select group of folks making decisions on their behalf.

Which is scarier to you, a CEO and BOD making decisions on the welfare of 300 thousand employees that have individual freedoms to choose another company, or a small amount of highly placed government officials setting policies for the welfare of 300 million, where the only other option those people would have is to abandon their birth country?

Give me the tyrranical CEO any day.......

Always dreamed of that too. Once had a elevated view of a 1 mile square park in Costa Mesa California. 640 acres I believe I could live with that. Jogging around the edge is a mile each side.

The commute to work stinks but it's worth it to live in the country.

It almost took over in the 30's so worried were the capitalists that Roosevelt made them pay over 90% income tax to fund his programs .
Roosevelt got the movers and shakers of Wall Street and Industry together and told them you either agree to this tax or take the chance of losing everything. Obviously they did not lobby Congress to put a halt to the tax hike and it passed.
Later they did try to organise a military coup and assassinated Roosevelt

I have a 1/2 acre garden almost year round. Certain things in the Fall/Winter, and certain things Spring/Summer. I own an old Ford 8N farm tractor that helps with a lot of the preperation. The rest is done by hand. My wife cans the old fashioned way so we keep it year 'round. I do green beans; squash, zucchini, collard greens, turnip greens, kale, spinach, brussel sprouts, turnips, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, corn.....etc etc etc. You get the idea. We do damn near everything. Lol

We used to have cattle and hogs but all I have now is some laying hens.

I'm an old country boy born and raised in the South. We learned to work hard and survive at a young age. Ol' Hank said it best when he said "A country boy can survive".

90% works only when you get to write every penny off. Writeoffs pretty much were supposedly traded for 28% top marginal rate. Them Congress raised it, without the Writeoffs....

Tax's can't ever be simple, someone always has the need to deduct something. It's just a lower rate but no simpler

Rand proposes a 14% flat tax.

Cruz proposes a 10% flat personal tax, and a flat 16% corporate tax.

    Huckabee proposes the Fair Tax.

It can easily be done. Only way it's fair.

Yep......basically when the government began to ignore, erode and degrade the 10th amendment. I don't have issues with entities paying their share through taxes, or with social programs to help citizens, but I do take exception with the creation of an all powerful federal government. It will never be capable of efficiently operating the programs with the citizenry's best interests in mind, besides it being in direct opposition to our country's constitution....
