I can't vouch for what has happened at the truck stops, but that makes perfect sense. Low wages hurts more than just the person that is earning them.

If you have spent any time in truck stops over your years I recommend visiting one of your old haunts (or maybe a new one), take a seat, grab a sammich and study the clientele.

When traveling, I do use the truck stops on occasion for some one stop shopping, and I can usually pick out the truck drivers from foreign countries and cultures.{The open toed shoes are a dead give away, and the American drivers usually take the towel off their head after showering.}
