Hi guys/girls - Would you try to break in (new CDL-A with Haz/tanker/doubles) as a driver trainee with Southeastern or go to some lesser company that will put you in the seat right away to get a year or two of experience?

About how long does that working of the loading dock last? 3-6 months or longer? Any idea of the pay while doing it?

I'm looking at West Palm/Dothan/Dalton or Savannah.

welcome mustb123,sorry if im wrong but but u have no driving exp and just got ur cdl ?they wont take the time to teach u to driver but u will driver someone to show u the ropes, as far as workin the dock did u apply for that?or to driver? theres a bunch of good people on here to help or answer ur ? good luck
 
what ever u decide good luck with,but definetly some driving experience wont hurt,if u get on the dock be ready to work hard and some crazy hours
 
They do have a dock to driver program, but it varies from terminal to terminal as to how long it takes. Some managers may not even do it. Talk to TM and see what he/she says. Good luck.
