fed ex sales reps telling rdwy/yellow customers that where going out of business sending faxes and letters telling them to get there freight routed to them before it's to late. It's time to take the gloves off with these non-union carries and go back to the way the 50's 60's where and get the baseball bats out. tired of playing games with these boys.

Didn't another company pull that crap on Consolidated Freightways and get the crap sued out of them? Weren't laws put in place to prevent such slanderous remarks?

I can remember when we went on strike and Overnite tried to take all of our business. It hurt them for many years because they couldn't handle the freight volume.

hmmm

Now, they are the 'union' Hope 'they' don't have to strike someday! YRC may have to help them with some of their freight...right now this isn't the case. Ask Yellow (IND). Saw UPS Freight at the terminal a week and a half ago, I was told, don't worry about it, they are union.

I heard they were doing this too even going as far as to hire new drivers in some citys. Spreading bs about us going down:chairshot:

I heard the same thing here in the city of salt. Rumor was they were agressively trying to lure drivers away from other companies.

We have heard the same thing at our place...they have some pretty aggressive crap flying around...and once again, their actions have brought out the memo at CNW to avoid in engaging in this type of stuff, which only makes the customer think you are weak to begin with because you simply can't earn the business on the merits of your company...I will say it again..I believe YRC has the opportunity to fight through this and get right-sided...it is all up to the people at YRC...

Remember, FX considers only one opponent...UPS...With FX and UPS, it has always been a battle of egos, to see who can get one up on the other...
They have never seen CNW or YRC or ABF as their nemisis..to them, we are just a pain in the butt...

I agree with you. Fed Ex and UPS are the rivals, here, with their 'small package" business and compete against the USPS. They are trying to get a foot in the door with LTL, but it ain't there yet, for them.....

YRC sales, ( both RDWY & YFSY sales are out there spreading the word also.) ---- NONE of the sales people from either compnay has been canned YET, from their job--they have too much work to do right now, selling customers, keeping customers, and settin the story straight....

The best way to shut their mouths is to get our stuff together and take care of these customers. All carriers are having a tough time as we see Conway is closing terminals too. If we think like we did in the 50's and 60's then the times will pass us by.

Is there a difference between this and yellow telling customers to give them the freight because holland is closed?

A young guy came into my terminal yesterday looking for a job. He said he was laid off from "Prime"... I said to myself" WHO?" Prime, Inc..... It's bad everywhere....

I agree with you. WE CAN NOT think like the 50's or 60's anymore in this business..... That's why you drivers have been known as "Driver acoount Specialist" for the past years... It's yer job to to help keep this account that you are PERSONALLY connected to each and evry day, and "SQUASH THOSE RUMORS" !!!!

I understand you point. We too, felt Yellow was undermining RDWY here where we are. I would see RDWY sales Rep NOT TOUCH IT, if a driver came in with a sales lead ( driver didn't know any better ) and she would not touch it. I would look at her, and she would just say, well that's Yellow's baby... I would say, Oh...I see....

I think Yellow has been reprimanded for this now and will not do this anymore. My RDWY sales lady says "she's looking forward" to working with Yellow sales rep, whereas before, it was a kinda....hmmmm...can't find the word.....relationship.

Tortious interference with a business relationship.

If anyone sees a letter saying this, give it to your terminal manager to forward to YRC's legal department. They can be sued for millions if they are doing it.

The Fed Ex flyer is posted at our Yellow Terminal. I've seen the flyer OD gives to their employees telling them OD is gearing up for "changes in the LTL Market" (my son works part-time for OD while attending college). Conway here in Indy is hiring, as they are closing the smaller, out of the way terminals and growing their large one, to compete harder against a weaker YRCW; and we ARE weaker; our stock is hanging by a thread-- ABF's, Conway's, Few Ex's are all growing, even in this slower economy.

I see these as marketing tools I would use if I were a salesman, and just things jealous people on here see as mean. We at Yellow need to work harder at keeping the customers we have, and things might work out. Instead, here anyway, we've missed appointments, missed pick-ups, delayed next day freight service, everyting we CAN do to LOSE customers, and wonder why? The only thing we offer is service, and we mess that up, thinking the customer will still stay with us since we're "Entitled" to them! We need to change OUR attitude, or we're in REAL TROUBLE...

very well said. you sound like this other guy on here telling the same story. oh wait thats me.

Well, stocks for anyone right now are not healthy...we have all been taking a hit the past 7 weeks or so...Our industry is so dependent on a healthy economy, and our economy is extremely sick at the moment...So, some will resort to desperate measures during desperate times...You would think FX would be able to sell on reputation, but apparently they are not real confident in themselves...

Jimmy G is exactly right on the money. We need to service our customers, and that means delivering their freight on time and picking up their freight on the day it is called in. Unfortunately this is not happening because, at least my manager says they are told how many men to put to work everyday by a computer message every morning. Gee, i wish that computer could understand that when you double up p&d runs you either can't make all of your deliveries or don't have enough room for pick ups. When you don't have enough manpower on the street, you cannot service your customers properly. When you don't service your customers properly, you lose them. When you lose your customers, you go out of buisness. Oh what do i know, i am only in the freight buisness 37 years, and anyway computers know everything!!!!!:hysterical::smilie_132:

yellow @mtc had a salesman that got fired because of not doing his job people never saw him . now hes going oround telling everyone that the hand writings on the wall that they let him go. guess were hes at now fedex
