This stretch of I 40 from Little Rock to Memphis/West Memphis is one of the most heavily traveled highways in the US. I have worked several company accidents on that highway. Plans are to build new bridges across the White River, both with three lanes. The existing bridges are so narrow & congested that closing one lane while an additional lane is constructed is not practical. Also the bridges are old & the structural integrity is questioned. Rarely a week passes without a truck accident & that backs up traffic for miles.
