General rate increase at package unit matches earlier move by rival UPS

FedEx Ground will raise its rates by a net average of 5.9 percent Jan. 3, but a fuel surcharge reduction will blunt the increase to 4.9 percent. FedEx will also increase its FedEx Home Delivery pricing by a net average of 4.9 percent, the company said. The rate increases match a price hike planned by competitor UPS for domestic ground packages and air express shipments in the U.S. Earlier this fall, FedEx said it would raise FedEx Express rates 5.9 percent but reduce that increase on average to 3.9 percent through lower fuel surcharges.

fedex spent all that money thinking yellow was going
out of business and now they will do anything to try
and make up for it. they said they were not going to
worry about yellow"s problems but they did we had dock
meeting every-nite and yellow came up in everyone of
them. there at one time if they were not talking about
yellow they would not of had nothing to say.. glad to
see it back fire on them.......
