There will be Bankers lining up to finance VITRAN if the exodus continues at FXF.
Umm!...no there won't.
When banking institutions lend monies for growth and operating expenditures they are looking for solid planning, sound business practices, and expansion.
The only thing the bankers care about is the interest they earn on a any given loan and the borrower's ability to pay it back.
"Money follows money"...that is ALMOST correct. Money follows SUCCESSFUL money. Everyone loves a winner.
People make career decisions for different and varied reasons. The first question the bankers are going to ask of Mr. K is why did you leave the #1 LTL carrier to be CEO of what?....#12?...
That in itself makes no sense...I would understand this move if it involved companies like Con-Way...Estes...R&L...or any other top of the line carrier...but Vitran?...I don't get it.
There is more to this than meets the eye. Perhaps these moves are related to internal issues at FedEx Freight that aren't public knowledge. Perhaps there may be infighting at the top...everyone trying to make their bones and wanting to secure their positions in the company. If this is the case...there will winners and losers.
The winners will stay...those who haven't leveraged themselves and cemented their positions will move on...
Since the merger it is conceivable that those at the corporate level are vying for positions of importance and reward. There may just to be too many chiefs and some had to leave.
FedEx is always 'in motion'...this a fluid company...nothing is static.
For those of us on the bottom of the pile...it sucks. But that is way of it. One either adapts or is swallowed up by the machinations of a faceless and 'profit seeking at all costs' company.
There is no Purple Promise...only profits.
I am OK with it...I am employed...making a good income in the midst of the "Great Recession"...(and NO!!!...it NOT OVER...not by a long shot!!!).
The only thing the bankers are concerned with is profits...they don't give a damn where you came from...it what you are going to do in the future that determines their response.
I can visualize some very aggressive ideologies from Mr. K...however, making them happen may be another thing altogether.
