FedEx Freight | Fedex vs Vitran

Well Son When The.Purple Machine Swallows Up Your Little Company Then You'll Be Living The Purple Dream That's Something You Could Look Forward Too. Since The Word On The Street Is That's In The Works.... That's Y Our Management Has Come Over Sleep Well See Ya Soon.
Very possible!

WNJ SCM quit earlier in the week and today the NEW SCM quit. Both are hdg to Vitran supposedly the WNJ SCM was offered more money and I mean considerably more to jump ship. So far they say there have been about 31 folks bailing out. Guess they see the writing on the wall.
Or maybe this is a ploy by fedex telling all these guys to supposedly quit so it looks as if their jumping ship when their really setting up the next division of freight and will be bought out soon and they will be brought back in without a hitch.

There will be Bankers lining up to finance VITRAN if the exodus continues at FXF.

Umm!...no there won't.

When banking institutions lend monies for growth and operating expenditures they are looking for solid planning, sound business practices, and expansion.

The only thing the bankers care about is the interest they earn on a any given loan and the borrower's ability to pay it back.

"Money follows money"...that is ALMOST correct. Money follows SUCCESSFUL money. Everyone loves a winner.

People make career decisions for different and varied reasons. The first question the bankers are going to ask of Mr. K is why did you leave the #1 LTL carrier to be CEO of what?....#12?...

That in itself makes no sense...I would understand this move if it involved companies like Con-Way...Estes...R&L...or any other top of the line carrier...but Vitran?...I don't get it.

There is more to this than meets the eye. Perhaps these moves are related to internal issues at FedEx Freight that aren't public knowledge. Perhaps there may be infighting at the top...everyone trying to make their bones and wanting to secure their positions in the company. If this is the case...there will winners and losers.

The winners will stay...those who haven't leveraged themselves and cemented their positions will move on...

Since the merger it is conceivable that those at the corporate level are vying for positions of importance and reward. There may just to be too many chiefs and some had to leave.

FedEx is always 'in motion'...this a fluid company...nothing is static.

For those of us on the bottom of the pile...it sucks. But that is way of it. One either adapts or is swallowed up by the machinations of a faceless and 'profit seeking at all costs' company.

There is no Purple Promise...only profits.

I am OK with it...I am employed...making a good income in the midst of the "Great Recession"...(and NO!!!...it NOT OVER...not by a long shot!!!).

The only thing the bankers are concerned with is profits...they don't give a damn where you came from...it what you are going to do in the future that determines their response.

I can visualize some very aggressive ideologies from Mr. K...however, making them happen may be another thing altogether.

You don't get it. That is what capitalism is all about. Some people are not happy reaching a certain level and then stagnating.

I'm one of those people. I need a challenge or I get bored. I could never run a bid for very long, it was too mundane. That's why I bid the extra board and ultimately why I left.

Maybe he wasn't having fun anymore. Maybe he saw the flaws and wanted to change it but couldn't. When you hit a barrier in your career you can stop and go around in circles, waiting for the barrier to be removed or you can fund a different road.

Imagine if he turns Vitran into the company we all wish Fedex would be.

I heard Vitran pays .92 cpm and has antibacterial soap in the bathroom, and every tractor has an antibacterial alcohol based gel dispenser on the dash!!! Can't wait till they open the doors in the peoples republik of Kalifornia so I can apply to run sleeper team with the thong king!!!

Stop and think about it the people that are higher up that have quit got there because they know what they're doing and know what needs to be done. The biggest problem with this company over the last few years has been that Harrison and Memphis have taken control over everything and created bigger problems because they don't deal with day to day local operation's. While doing this they have alienated the very people that make this company run. By going to Vitran they are taking a risk because of the financial trouble they are in. But from what I have seen the company is seemingly willing to do what it takes to get the company running right. They have gone out to get the people with knowledge and ability to do what needs to be done. Vitran has also shown that they are willing to deal and give better pay and benefits package. FedEx for its part has stuck to the belief that every person is replaceable. By going to Vitran these people are finding that they are being allowed to make changes that need to be done. They are having their input taken seriously instead of being ignored.

To some people, money isn't everything.
Your right...but this doesn't help either

Judging by those red tamales, RC has come to the conclusion that you have a proclivity for pissing people off.

BTW, Rat and Franklin would be the rant specialists.

For those interested...I have "rant lessons" available at a reasonable fee...

It is one thing to have a grandiose idea...it is another to make it a reality.

Keylon has evidently made many promises...luring the management types from FedEx.

I have a sneaking suspicion...there will be a lot of of those who bailed out in the near future regretting their decision. Decisions made solely for financial reasons...only to find themselves at the bottom of the pile.

Having a wonderful business plan...and making it work is sometimes two separate endeavors.

Think Enron....Tyco...Et. Al...

It isn't going to happen. The only thing these 'ship jumping' folks have done is sabotage a career..their "own"...

Vitran is lucky to hold onto the number 12 position...they have NO HOPE OF EVER BEING NUMBER ONE!!!!...

Not gonna happen.
