    Nope, wrong Byrd...

In the early 1940s, Byrd recruited 150 of his friends and associates to create a new chapter of the Ku Klux Klan in Sophia, West Virginia.[12][13]
According to Byrd, a Klan official told him, "You have a talent for leadership, Bob ... The country needs young men like you in the leadership of the nation." Byrd later recalled, "Suddenly lights flashed in my mind! Someone important had recognized my abilities! I was only 23 or 24 years old, and the thought of a political career had never really hit me. But strike me that night, it did."[20] Byrd became a recruiter and leader of his chapter.[13] When it came time to elect the top officer (Exalted Cyclops) in the local Klan unit, Byrd won unanimously.[13]
In December 1944, Byrd wrote to segregationist Mississippi Senator Theodore G. Bilbo:
I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.
    — Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944[13][21]

    This one...........LOL

Byrd is proof that a man can change if he wants to.

Too bad Trump can't denounce David Duke, and his support.

I can imagine most White folks in your neck of the woods would have stood right next to him.
    Too many still today.
Slowly we get better but slowly.

Did Trump finally admit he knew who David Duke was, and what the KKK is? If he did, that's great, he's coming around.

You fail to see or understand the point of any subject. That's why we are in the shape we're in, because of the ignorance of your party. KKK member are all over this country.. Not just in the south. I had a friend, just so happens is black. Moved to Illinois after we got out of college and ended up moving back here. He experienced more prejudice in the north, than he ever experienced here in 25 years.

But what I hear from conservatives is, racism is a thing of the past. And Obama brought it back.

I'd like to know where you heard this garbage from...Even the Democrat powers that be say that Obama has done more damage with race relations than the KKK could ever do in a lifetime.. BTW, where's the "Black Lives Matter" people when a black policeman gets killed by a black thug... You're sounding racist...

I heard all this garbage on TB's while you were on hiatus.
I never heard of Democrats blaming Obama for race relations I think that's a wishful figment of conservatism.

Black Lives Matter was organized as a push back to police brutality.
Not every way a black person dies, so it makes perfect sense when they don't get involved with a policeman's death,
not that they feel no sympathy.
But these concepts are too abstract to understand for some of us.

To a Lib.......hope and change means that they "hope" that society will accept their sex "change" operation as the new norm.
Let's disrupt life for businesses and the 99% of normal folks, just so a few wackos can feel good about their mental instability.
