Raiders got screwed on that call.
"It was immaculate,'' Fuqua said. "I wore a T-shirt to the celebration yesterday that says, 'Immaculate Reception -- I'll never tell.''
Steelers celebrate 'Immaculate Reception' with another monument
Immaculate Deception just as bad as the Snow Job
It's been forty years!!
After all the times I have seen it, I can't tell if it was a legal catch or not. For the younger among us, back then it was an illegal catch if one offensive player touched the pass before another offensive player caught it. Unless a defender touched it in between the touches. Yeah, confusing.
The fact that Franco Harris won't say a word about it 40 years later tells you all you need to know. He knows it was an illegal catch. I have no dog in the fight other than the fact that the Steelers have at least two Super Bowls that were won as the result of bad officiating.
I was either out in the Gulf of Tonkin on an aircraft carrier or in a sleazy bar in Olongapo when the catch was made.
