As most of you know, we're approaching the end of ABF Freight's current labor contract with the Teamsters, which expires on March 31, 2018. We are currently in negotiations with the Teamsters on a new contract. Out of respect for this important process, we will give you an update on fourth quarter and full-year results during today's call, but not take any questions following our prepared commentary.

We hope you can understand our reasons for doing things a little differently, while this process takes place. As always, following today's call, we will be available to speak with you to discuss the publicly disclosed information about our fourth quarter and full-year 2017 results.

wow, no more "poor mouthing" we are going to shut the doors without a significant change in wages/benefits?

Can't wait !!!!

Yeah.......no questions please......

We'll spread any pertinent rumors through our traditional channels ......i.e. trade papers like D.C.Velocity and such......

We'll wait to see how much this new contract will cut into our profits and bonuses,........and then we'll start up the rumor mill.......

ArcBest’s revenue totaled $2.8 billion, compared to $2.7 billion in 2016. Net income was $59.7 million for 2017

Fourth quarter 2017 revenue of $710.7 million, and net income of $36.6 million for 4Q

The IBT isn't negotiating a contract with ArcBest..........they are only concerned with ABF.

The other unprofitable branches of ArcBest can go pound salt......or get sold off. ABF has been profitable enough to carry all the dead weight like Panther, and still show a good O.R.

Funny.........now that contract talks start with ABF, they want to tell us how profitable ArcBest is.

Apple's to apples.........tell us how profitable ABF is without all the other deadwood.

Don't forget... that's how ArcBEST did in spite of ABF hemorrhaging cash. Don't you just love a good shell game? Judy shuffles the cards and deals another game of three-card Monty.

With all the bs they are wanting so far. Is that any different than any other normal contract. Don’t they always ask for everything and we ask for everything and somehow kind of meet in the middle????

We are way, way behind the eight ball when it comes to pay scale. We should be starting negotiations at today’s rates, not 1994’s. We want EVERYTHING back. Rid red circle!
Pounded on the last contract and still behind to this day.
Let’s get ready to show our families we are going to war! I’m not asking!!
Ernie better get his $h!t straight fast!

DAM right progress is slow. Time for a strike vote. Period. Fitness for duty, Hair samples Tim better go back in the military.

Sometimes I think that ArcBest upper management's "strategy",.......is to negotiate us into some sort of an approval for more acquisitions and use of third-party purchased transportation,......to be..."competitive",...of course..

Eventually,...even some...(or most...) of the city work,....along with a majority,...(..if not all...)....of the road work, will be farmed out to contractors and rat-ball non-Union purchased(cheaply) transportation.

Alleviates ArcBest from the increasing liability of maintaining a top-notch work force......(..farm it out,....and when Larry, Daryll and Daryll Trucking has an accident...........Hey! Not ABF!...).......and, by keeping a tiny core of ABF personnel,....they can keep up the illusion that they are a .."Union"...carrier...

They can pay rock-bottom trip-lease wages,....do a "Sargeant Schultz" every time one of their Purchased Transportation minions violates regulations, or has an accident due to faulty equipment/unqualified/drunk/high/stupid/drivers,.........and still hold high the few remaining ABF employees as "proof" that they are a top-shelf freight carrier........
