    2) Obama hasn't come out with any new gun regulations

Am I comparing Obama to Hitler? Hitler was a fascist and in my opinion Obama is a socialist. Personally I don't think there is much between the two.

Australia isn't exactly close but it is a society similar to ours. Bear in mind this letter was written in 2001 and the numbers have risen significantly since then. The underlying message here is the bad guys didn't turn in anything and now have an unarmed populace to prey upon.

From: Ed Chenel, a police officer in Australia.

    Hi Yanks,

I thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down Under.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent, Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent; Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent!). In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and criminals still possess their guns!)
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in "successfully ridding Australian society of guns."

You won't see this data on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the state Assembly disseminating this information.

The Australian experience proves it. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note Americans, before it's too late!

I found this in a related article. Rather than collect the "military style" bad guy guns they hoped for, over 95% of guns turned in were .22 rimfires and shotguns, obvious choices for hunters and farm guns. Ah, did they expect truckloads of Glocks and Uzis? Overall, just over a third of the guns they believe existed were actually turned in.

Although most jurisdictions released no details, Victoria did; their proportions should be close to typical. Although "military style" centerfire semiauto rifles were the firearms that were supposedly of primary concern to the gun control advocates, those types having been used in the massacres, only 3.2% of the firearms Victoria bought were centerfire (probably semiautos), other than shotguns. 47.5% were .22 rimfire rifles ("pea shooters") and 47.8% were pump or semiauto shotguns.

The evidence is everywhere you look, Mexico, for example. They have to jump through hoops to legally own a .22 rifle. They can't even defend themselves down there. Look what's happening to innocent people in the U.K. Imagine being beheaded on a London street because the self-appointed "betters" suffer from hoplophobia. (Fear of an inanimate object, like a gun, rather than the person who controls it.)

    It's crazy.

I started reading the NRA peice then in the second paragraph B. S. started flying
let me quote them here: Many at the time wondered exactly what sort of "fundamental transformation" was needed in what was already the most prosperous, peaceful, just, egalitarian, and powerful nation the world has ever known. "

Wait a minute this writerr wants me to accept we are a peaceful nation?
Is there a more war like nation just look at the list of wars we were in
List of wars involving the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
go ahead and scroll down that laundry list MY GAWD
then he says we are "egalitarian" ask the blacks the browns and the natives if they feel equal.:regretful:

An impressive list indeed! Sure, we are involved in plenty of wars; we just don't have them here. Even an animal knows you don't crap where you eat.

Perhaps you would be more at home among the Hutus and Tutsis where they savagely kill each other without bothering other nations.

Exactly. If the barbaric natives hadn't been so busy fighting amongst each other they could have formed a united opposition against the visiting Europeans.

Oh, wait, perhaps you are referring to the War of Northern Aggression, which was technically two nations, The Union and the newly formed Confederate States of America. But no matter, I will concede this small point s it was a mere blip on the radar compared to your Middle Eastern friends who have been at each others throats for centuries.

If the natives got along or not why would that give the White Europeans the right to exterminate them.
    Northern aggression?
I see your a slavery supporter.

Ricky, it's pointless. The guy hates America. It's obvious. If you really want to mess with him, ask him where the natives came from. :)

Has nothing to do with Hate
Hate to you obviously is when you disagree or your opinion differs, but thats not hate at all, thats wanting to improve the situation.

I've heard this stuff since I was a teen America love it or leave it was the conservative red neck shout during the Vietnam protests days.
    Your repeating the same thoughts

What facts.. We all know about the regulations(those same regulations have been on the books for over 30 years..Reagan enforced the assault ban during his years too..), that are not being followed.. They just want you to think they are concerned... I think political experts call it "a political diversion tactic".....

Okay Magoo, I said I wasn't going to bother responding to you. After the "Lara Logan asked for it" comment, I can't possibly take anything you say seriously. Your kind of thinking is dangerous.

P.S. - I shudder to think of what this world would look like without America in it.
