Here its real heavy, seems its either feast or famine on a holiday week, I wonder how Christmas week will be?

How was it in your neck of the woods, I had 15 stops for 975 cases today, I usually have 12 to 15 for between 700-800, seems customers are gearing up, I'm curious how Friday will be, I hope its super slow and I can relax, I want to work Friday, just not that hard, I would appreciate the break!!

Monday and Tuesday was a little heavy. Wednesday was so-so. being heavy really isn't the issue for me right now, it being the onlyn one at our yard for the next two weeks and getting screwed everyday with extra stops that are not even near my routes. The other driver pulled hiss back and will be out two weeks. Guess the guys from up north can't handle a real run down here ;)

I had a light week.

I didn't have my regular stops on Wednesday, we couldn't figure out what was going through the router's head, the first stop wouldn't get there until 8:30, the second and third stops wouldn't get there until 9 or 10. The fourth stop get's there at 7:00, the fifth, maybe 7 or 8, the sixth stop gets there at 6:00, according to the invoice. I went to the sixth stop, and they weren't there, I waited until 7, and when they didn't show up, I went to the fourth stop. So I went to stop 6 4 6 1 2 3 7 8 9 5, because stop 5 wouldn't take it at lunch time.

Wednesday night, the router called and left a message asking me to come in a half hour early, because he put a casino as my first stop. I guess before we got the upgraded contract with the casino, I would usually deliver 20 or 30 cases to the place, so didn't matter, this would totally screw up my day, if I had to dig a few cases out from under my normal first stop, 250 cases at at hospital, so this is bothering me in the back of my head all day Thursday. But when I went in of Friday, I didn't have any of my normal stops then either, so 600 cases at the casino, 150 cases at a crazy pita restaurant that used to be a gas station. Then five more stops for 150 cases, I was running about 2.5 hours ahead even after losing 45 minutes at the gas station, boy they were busy. I was gonna make a 9 hour day on a Friday, that never happens. That morning several drivers mentioned they needed help. So on the way back in, I got the e-mail, thought for sure I had to go help someone. Pulled over, it was unrelated (phew). Started driving again and my supervisor called my cell phone, now I gotta go help someone. Pulled over again, and again, it was the same issue as the e-mail. Finally made it to the yard without any other delays, had a good day.

So the moral of the story is, don't answer the call. Don't listen to the voicemail, keep your head right.

Thats funny Ted!

I had a co-worker friend of mine ride with me all day fri, that never happens, I got lucky, he was supposed to go to Norman to get product that didn't make the cut thurs nite, he was told to come on in at 0500, me and another guy were the only ones left in the yard, (sometimes I just don't want to leave), I just happened to have more stops and cases than he did, 14 for 657, on a 38 footer, man that was my lucky Friday!

He never got the call to go to Norman, so my boss left him with me, mind you he is my friend and can throw some groceries, even with all the goofing off we did we still got done before 1400, got back to the yard and got to go home.

Like you said Ted, that never happens on a Friday. After the last 3 weeks I had I welcomed it. My stop order went like this 1 2 3 4 6 7 9 8 10 13 14 12 11 5 number 5 is a busy hamburger joint, we were there before 0800, I didn't have the heart to show up there at lunch begging, so I waited, it helped I had a Mountian Man with me.

Routing was an issue with us as well, the Trans mgr routed, let our router, who is awesome by the way, stay home and have a long holiday, I thought that was nice and he really deserved it.

My Friday was like this. 623 cases, 6 stops. First stop was 408 cases. I had that off in 2 hrs, drove 40 mins to mankato did the next 4 stop s had them off in 2 hrs and drove another 15 min drive and had that stop off in 20 mins and then a 2 HR 45 min drive back. Left at 3 am back by 2 pm.

Friday was ugly. Did the other driver's route. 12 Stops, a little over 400 cubes, full to the back.

Stop 1 opens at 8am, it's 7 minutes from the yard, I start at 530am. Ok, do stop 2 first, it's right before stop 1 and they get there a little after 630. Go to stop 2, unbury their stuff and wait. Run it off as soon as they got there, did i mention I love go down steps, lol. Get to stop 1 around 730 and wait, lol. They show up at 750, gone by 8. 15 minutes to stop 3, in and out in under 15, 7 minutes to stop 4, in and out in 15, 40 minutes to stop 5, in and out in under 15, 5 minutes to stop 6, in and out in 10 minutes, 12 minutes to stop 8(yes, I skipped over 7), arrive at 1010, depart at 1135. Biggest stop on the route, as always, 4 and half pallets, 35 cases of meat, and they want the cooler first, so you dig it out if the frozen pallet is in the way. Off to stop 7, 10 minutes to there, in and out in 10 minutes, 10 minutes to stop 9, again less then 10 minutes, stop 10 and 11, all done less then 45 minutes after I left stop 9, and that includes drive times.

Ok, off to stop 12, in BFE! Talked to the other driver earlier for directions, he gave me what he could, seems this place is the VFD Ladies Aux. I never even heard of the town and I know eastern Ohio pretty well. 45 minutes, through back roads to get there. 21 miles from door to door. Took all of five minutes to deliver and another 10 minutes for the two firemen there to figure out how to get point in the right direction towards home since I was driving a tractor-trailer, lol.( going out the same way I came in was not an option, would have put me farther from the yard). So, 1.5 hours later and after many back roads, I get back to the yard. Started at 530am, logged out of the computer at 445pm. Not to bad for all that I had and it's been several months since I ran that area. Even remembered where all the stops where, except that last one, they only started buying a month ago.

What was the town in Ohio?

Well, stop 4 won't get there for another two hours, I'm supposed to be at stop 13 at 3 pm, they're gone between 2 and 4, stop 12 in the afternoon has me competing with mbm, stop 6 and 9 don't like it during lunch.

stop 1 2 3 12 13 6 5 7 8 10 11 9 4 14.

Fortunately I was able to get to the product for stop 12 and 13 without too much hassle, done early again today :)

IDK how you do it, you Sir are..."The Mother Truckest"...I would be crying like a scalded pig, I hate jumping stops! I had to do it Wed, but it wasn't to bad, 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,7,13,12,11,10,9 at least it was at the end of the day, the trailer wasn't that full :)

Yes, for a quad rally! Lol

And it only took two weeks for you to answer, lol. I see you finally got some free time to come and visit us, lol. I know doing paperwork all day is hard, but come on, two weeks to stop in and say hi? LOL

Lol I agree with RR. But yet he can check facebook. I see how it is. But I envy him because he got out of foodservice lol

I guess we are slow. Can't tell. Hauled ass right threw thanksgiving and running hard right to Christmas it seems.
We also are different than you guys. If our stores and warehouses slow down then we wander around the country and pick up Frito Lay stuff , roll stock, sunflower seeds, pretzels, and plant to plant loads.

You could always apply at Frito Lay. I did, they called me, but the talk I had with the guy proved to be something that I wasn't interested in.

They don't hire semi drivers around here. There is old Dutch potato chips. Why weren't you interested?

Its a long story, low pay, short runs, nights, no hope of days, those are a few, Tulsa isn't a good place to be just starting out, no hope of making decent dough.
